MONTGOMERY, Ala-- The University of Mobile women's basketball team defeated NAIA No. 22 Auburn University-Montgomery 54-47 in non-conference action Tuesday evening.
Gerica Johnson poured in 30 points for the Lady Rams and led the team with 11 rebounds for a double-double. Johnson hit 9-of-10 from the charity stripe, while Mobile finished 22-of-28 as a team, compared to a 14-of-20 effort from AUM. Adrienne Mackay added 8 points for Mobile, while Morgan Melancon chipped in 7 points.
Johnson fouled out with 2:06 remaining, but the Lady Senators only managed seven points the rest of the way and Melancon and Trenell Spears each hit a pair of free throws in the final 21 seconds to help ice the game.
It was a sloppy with both teams shooting below 32% from the floor and 72 combined turnovers.
Mobile (3-1) returns to action in an exhibition game at Alabama State University Friday, Nov. 13 at 6 pm.
