MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile women's basketball team used a balanced attack to defeat visiting Martin Methodist College 74-55 in the Lady Rams' season opener Friday at Pharr Gym in the Port City Tip-Off Classic.

All nine of the Lady Rams that dressed out scored in the game, and four scored in double figures. Morgan Melancon led all scorers with 14 points, Alyssa Lane tallied 13 points, Kyiona Boulton added 12 points off the bench on 6-of-9 shooting, and Gerica Johnson finished with 10 points, 7 assists and 6 rebounds. Alice Honnery added 10 rebounds for Mobile.

Micah Anderson led the Lady Redhawks with 12 points. Mobile (1-0) hosts Talladega College Saturday, Oct. 31 at 3 pm on the final day of the Port City Tip-Off Classic.

Mobile out-shot the visitors 46% to 35%, and used a 49% to 25% edge in the first half to build a 39-21 lead at intermission. In that opening half, Mobile led by as much as 22 after a 20-7 run.
