ORANGE BEACH, Ala-- The University of Mobile women's soccer team fell 2-1 to Oklahoma City at the Orange Beach Sportsplex Friday evening in the University of Mobile Soccer Classic.
The Lady Stars of Oklahoma City racked up 10 shots on goal out of 16 shots, while Mobile put 6 of 11 shots on target.
Malin Andersson scored first for the Lady Stars in the 28th minute when she got her own rebound and knocked the ball into the net. In the 73rd minute, Mobile's Christy Lachappelle took a feed from Kelsie Ruff, beat the defense into the 18-yard box and found net to tie things up at 1-1.
Things stayed that way until 10 minutes later when Sarah Leonard beat the Lady Rams' defense by a couple of steps and won the one-on-one break by going top-shelf in the 83rd minute for the winning tally.
Mobile goal keeper Anna Maddox tallied 8 saves in the losing effort. Mobile (3-4-1) returns to action Saturday, Sept. 26 at 4:30 pm on the final day of the University of Mobile Soccer Classic against NAIA No. 2 Azusa Pacific.
