NEW ORLEANS, La-- The 23rd-ranked University of Mobile women's tennis team fell in the semifinals of the 2010 Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Tournament Friday.

The Lady Rams (17-5) started the day with a 5-0 victory over Belhaven University, before falling to No. 20 William Carey University 6-2 in the semifinals. Mobile will await word on whether or not it will receive the host bid to the 2010 NAIA Women's Tennis National Championship, which is held May 18-22 at the Copeland-Cox Center in Mobile.

In the win over Belhaven, Claudia Borges, Zelie Pfeiffer, Rachel Hartley, Nancy Machen and Jordin Wiggins picked up wins in singles play. The teams did not play the doubles matches.

Nancy Machen's 6-2, 6-2 win over Tiffany Myles at No. 5 singles was the clinching point.

Against William Carey, Hartley was the lone winner in singles for Mobile, while Borges and Kari Williams teamed up for a win at No. 2 doubles.
