SHREVEPORT, La-- The 12th-ranked LSU-Shreveport Pilots scored 15 runs on 12 hits to defeat the University of Mobile 15-3 in Gulf Coast Athletic Conference action Saturday.
The Rams (20-32, 13-21) and the Pilots (42-10, 25-7) will await the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Tournament May 5-10 at Smith-Wills Stadium in Ridgeland, Miss.
The Pilot bats wasted little time in heating up, scoring 11 runs over the first two innings, with six in the 1st and five in the 2nd.
Designated hitter John James went 2-3 with a pair of home runs and 5 RBI for LSUS, while Andrew Blubaugh went 3-4 with three doubles and Kevin Smith finished 3-3 with 4 RBI. Justin Beck finished 2-4 with 1 RBI for the Rams.
Five LSUS pitchers combined to hold Mobile to 2 earned runs on 4 hits, with Jeff Nadeau picking up the victory with 3 innings of 1-run, 2-hit ball.
