Kaylee McGrew Joins UM Volleyball Squad For 2010

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile Volleyball Team announced the signing of setter, Kaylee McGrew, for the 2010 season.

The 5-9 McGrew comes to Mobile via Kennesaw Mountain High School in Kennesaw, GA. She played volleyball under Tonya Kern-Honea, and was named 1st-Team All-State, 1st-Team Area 5A and 1st-Team Cobb County for her efforts on the court.

She finished with 431 kills, a .246 attack %, 57 aces and 225 digs as a senior. In 2007, McGrew and the Kennesaw team finished as 5A State runner up.

McGrew also brings solid club experience with her. She spent several seasons with A5 Volleyball, one of the most elite clubs in the Eastern US. This season, she joined Tsunami Volleyball where she was named MVP. Kaylee has made many trips to USAV Nationals, and this season is no exception.

She is joining a Mobile squad that is coming off three-straight trips to the NAIA National Championships, and has had two athletes named NAIA All-American each of the past two seasons.

"One of my favorite things about UM volleyball is the high level of competitive play," McGrew said. She also likes the school and how she fits in off the court at Mobile. "I really liked the feel of the campus and felt right at home with the team and coaches," she added. "I loved the fact that the values of the university are the same values that I treasure."

Coach Campbell is looking forward to having a setter with the ability to contribute in so many ways. “Kaylee will compete for the starting setter position immediately, but in addition to that, she can hit, serve, and pass well. I see her with the potential to earn play time in six rotations as a freshman.”
