Ohio Native Erica Rath Inks With Mobile Volleyball

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile volleyball program announced the addition of Newark, Ohio native Erica Rath for the 2010 season.

Rath, a 5-11 middle blocker, brings high school and club experience to Mobile and is looking forward to continuing Mobile's success.

"I am excited to play volleyball at UM because I see the potential to be a part of a National Championship team," Rath said.

The Lady Rams have made three-straight trips to the NAIA National Championships.

Rath participated in volleyball, softball, and ran track at Newark Catholic High School. She played for the New Wave Volleyball Club Team under KC Doup, Holly Gibson and Todd Parkinson.

At Newark, Rath was named District Player of the Year, 2nd-Team All-State, 1st-Team All-League, Team MVP and Best Offensive Player.

While she is excited about the athletics, the choice to attend Mobile was made based on more than just the team's recent success.

"The University of Mobile was the best choice for me," Rath said. "Their academics are great, the volleyball program has a great record and I really enjoy the atmosphere."

One of two signed middles, Coach Campbell is looking forward to the athletic ability of Rath. “Erica will be an immediate impact player. She is a quick learner and should adapt to our fast offense easily.”
