MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile women's soccer team received 28 votes in the 2010 NAIA Women's Soccer Coaches' Preseason Top 25 Poll, as voted upon by NAIA coaches.
The Lady Rams are 10th among teams receiving votes, while Lee University tops the poll after going 21-2-1 in 2009. Point Loma, Concordia University, Lindsey Wilson College and Azusa Pacific round out the top five.
Mobile went 10-10-1 in 2009 and finished one game shy of qualifying for the 2009 NAIA National Championships, falling to William Carey University in the Unaffiliated Championship.
This year, the Lady Rams will compete in the Southern States Athletic Conference, along with No. 1 Lee University, No. 9 William Carey, No. 13 Auburn-Montgomery, Faulkner University (RV) and Brenau University (RV).
Mobile will open the season at home Monday, Aug. 23 at 7 pm against rival Spring Hill College. Leading the way in 2010 will be two-time All-American Anna Maddox, 2009 NAIA All-American Missy Stovall, defenders Louise Arseneault and Ashley Lachappelle; and Christy Lachappelle, who tallied 7 goals and added 8 assists in 2009.
