Mobile Women Fall 2-0 At Top-Ranked Lee

CLEVELAND, Tenn-- The University of Mobile women's soccer team fell 0-2 at top-ranked and defending national champion Lee University in NAIA soccer action Saturday evening.

The Lady Rams (1-1-1) next play in the Auburn University-Montgomery Tournament Sept. 3 versus Brenau University at 10 am.

Mobile held strong in the opening half, holding the Lady Flames scoreless and allowing only 1-of-5 shots on target, but the Mobile offense could not sustain an attack of its own, finishing with one shot in the opening half and four for the game.

Though, that shot was a rocket by Brianna Simmons off the crossbar in the 16th minute. Lee out-shot them 5-0 the rest of the half, but the Mobile defense kept them off the scoreboard.

In the second half, Lee kept the pressure on and started putting more shots on target, before finally breaking through with a pair of goals. Lee put 6-of-9 shots on frame in the final 45 minutes, including a pair of shots on goal within the first eight minutes of the half.

Jamie Achten produced the game-winner in the 62nd minute, scoring off assists from Caroline Scales and Ashley Aragona. Darcy Brannen then put the game away with an unassisted goal in the 85th minute.

Kristi Koudelka finished with a two-save shutout in goal for the Lady Flames, while Lorna Brownlie finished with 5 saves for Mobile.
