KANSAS CITY, Mo.-- The University of Mobile men's soccer team jumped up to No. 14 in the third regular season edition of the 2010 NAIA Men's Soccer Coaches' Top 25 Poll.
The Rams (4-1-1) jumped up from receiving 18 votes in last week's poll to now receiving 372 points, just five behind 13th-ranked William Jewell College.
The leap came after a big week for the Rams. Mobile beat then-No. 23 Southern Polytechnic State University 3-2 in double-overtime Friday and then blanked then-No. 3 Embry-Riddle 3-0 on Saturday.
Embry-Riddle is now #15, while Southern Poly is receiving votes in this week's poll.
Fellow Southern States Athletic Conference members Belhaven (#8), Shorter University (#20) and Auburn Montgomery (#22) are also in the Top 25.
Mobile will co-host a tournament this weekend at the Orange Beach Sportsplex this Friday-Saturday with the UMobile women's team. The Rams will face Northwood (TX) and Bethel (TN). Women's games will take place at 4, with the men playing at 7:30 pm. Bethel is receiving 68 votes and won the 2008 NAIA National Championship.
