ORANGE BEACH, Ala-- The 23rd-ranked University Mobile women's soccer team dominated possession against Bethel University Saturday and walked away with a 1-0 victory in a physical game.
Mobile (4-3-1) returns to action at home Friday, October 1 at 5 pm against Shorter University.
In a game featuring 22 fouls and six cards, Mobile out shot Bethel 33-0 and finished with a 10-0 edge in shots on target, but Bethel goalkeeper Jessica Coates hauled in nine saves in the losing effort.
Despite all of the chances, Mobile needed only one to find net with the outstanding defensive effort, and that happened in the 41st minute.
The Lady Rams tried to go top shelf all day on the undersized Bethel keeper, and that strategy paid off for Brianna Simmons when she put the ball over Coates's head from about 24 yards out.
