MOBILE, Ala-- The Southern States Athletic Conference released the OnePath Systems SSAC Players of the Week Monday, and the University of Mobile swept the men's soccer awards.
Deshorn Brown was named Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, while Jason Williams was tabbed as Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week as the Rams went 2-0 to improve to 6-1-1 on the season.
Mobile opened the weekend in Orange Beach with a 3-1 win over Northwood University out of Texas, and Brown tallied the game-winner. Jason Williams, meanwhile, made a pair of saves and held Northwood scoreless while Mobile built a 2-0 lead, before the Knights tallied a late goal.
The Rams capped the weekend's action with a come-from-behind 2-1 victory over 2008 NAIA National champion Bethel University.
Williams allowed an early goal in the game, but buckled down and made four huge saves the rest of the way to hold the Wildcats scoreless. Brown, a freshman from Jamaica, scored the game-tying goal in the second half to set the stage for Eoin Dolan's game-winner.
Mobile hosts Shorter University Friday, Oct. 1 at 7:30 pm. The women will play at 5 pm.
