No. 2 Lee University Too Much For Lady Rams

CLEVELAND, Tenn-- The University of Mobile volleyball team fell 0-3 (24-26, 15-25, 13-25) at No. 2 Lee University Saturday afternoon.

Mobile just could not get its offense on track, hitting .019 for the game, compared to .245 for the Lady Flames. Lee also controlled the net with 12 blocks.

Kelly Sherling led Mobile with 8 kills and 3 blocks, while Disah Kolassiba added 5 blocks for the Lady Rams. Melody Tenney led with 12 assists and 8 digs.

Arlene Ferreira led Lee with 12 kills, while Stephanie Todd added 10. Kayla Carlisle finished with 8 kills and 8 blocks.

Mobile hung in the match for the first set, hitting .154 and holding Lee to .163, but it went downhill from there, with Mobile hitting -.026 and -.115 in the final two sets.

Lee jumped out to a 5-1 lead in the opening set, but Mobile reeled off nine straight points to take a 9-5 lead thanks to a pair of kills from Alyson Kovacs and an ace from Shea McBee. Mobile increased that lead to 17-7 and 20-10 as the hitters continued to put the ball down and Mobile's defense gave Lee trouble at the net. Lee battled back, but Mobile led 24-20, needing one point to go up 1-0. Instead, the Lady Flames took the next six points for the win, with a pair of blocks and an ace finishing off the set.

Mobile (8-4) battles Georgetown at 1:15 (CST) today.
