MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile men's soccer team thumped visiting Spring Hill College 4-0 to close out the 2009 regular season Thursday evening at "The Jungle."
The Rams (6-10, 2-2) will play at No. 2 seed Belhaven College in the GCAC Tournament Nov. 5, while the Badgers will battle LSU-Shreveport in a play-in game at a time and date to be determined.
Mobile has never lost to Spring Hill in men's soccer, and made sure Spring Hill would not get its first win Thursday, with a strong all-around effort. The defense limited the Badgers to only two shots, while Mobile took 17 shots and put 7 on target.
Jack St. Hilaire opened the scoring when he received a feed from Eoin Dolan inside the 18-yard box and punched it home in the 4th minute.
Gerardo Flores put Mobile up 2-0 in the opening half when he scored on a diving header in the 22nd minute off a throw-in from Saulo Litterio.
The Rams kept the pressure on in the final period with two more tallies. Henrique Bertoli scored off of an assist from Dolan in the 71st minute when he received a free kick inside the box and knocked it in, and then Dolan got a goal by heading home a David Maddren corner kick in the 72nd minute.
