MOBILE, Ala-- The 11th-ranked University of Mobile men's soccer team blasted visiting Faulkner University 4-0 in SSAC West Division action Saturday evening.
The Rams (9-2-2, 1-0-1) host William Carey University Tuesday, Oct. 19 at 7:30 pm.
Mobile kept the pressure on all game, taking 29 shots overall, including 10 on target. The Rams' defense, meanwhile, limited Faulkner to 6 shots and Jason Williams grabbed 4 saves in the shutout effort.
The game was actually scoreless after the opening 45 minutes, despite 14 shots from Mobile. Finally, in the 52nd minute, Stephen Okai put Mobile on top for good with a penalty kick.
From there, it was the Deshorn Brown show, as the freshman tallied a pair of goals. In the 69th minute, he took a feed from Jubril Lawal in the box, chested the ball down, turned and fired for the 2-0 lead. Nine minutes later, he camped out inside the 18-yard box and put a pass from Kyle Kimbrell between the posts.
Onesimus Ikungo finished the scoring in the 85th minute after a Faulkner turnover.
