PENSACOLA, Fla-- NCAA II 25th-ranked University of West Florida defeated the University of Mobile 3-0 (25-15, 25-7, 25-14) in volleyball action Tuesday evening.
The Lady Rams (12-12, 4-1) host conference foe Belhaven University Friday, Oct. 22 at 7:30 pm.
Shea McBee, Kelly Sherling and Katie Dowd shared the Mobile lead with 4 kills apiece, while Melody Tenney had 13 assists and Katy McCollister led with 9 digs.
Chelsea Wilhoite led West Florida with 10 kills, while Kara Gonzalez added 7 kills.
Mobile offense struggled all night, hitting only -0.024, while West Florida hit .350 as a team, led by Wilhoite's .474 attack percentage. UWF put down 20 more kills than Mobile and out served the Lady Rams, with an 8-2 edge in aces.
Friday's home match with SSAC West Division opponent Belhaven will be a welcome change for the Lady Rams, after facing ranked teams in four out of the last five matches.
Mobile defeated Belhaven 3-1 in Jackson, Miss., Oct. 5, and is 4-0 in the conference after dropping the season opener to rival Spring Hill College.
