MONTGOMERY, Ala-- The 11th-ranked University of Mobile men's soccer team blasted Auburn University-Montgomery 4-1 in SSAC West Division action Tuesday afternoon.
Mobile sits alone in 1st in the SSAC West standings with a 3-0-1 conference mark and 11-3-2 overall record. The opening round of the SSAC Championships will take place Nov. 6 at the site of the highest seed.
The Rams doubled up AUM in the shot column, finishing with a 14-7 edge and finished with a 7-3 edge in shots on target.
Deshorn Brown led the way for Mobile with a pair of goals and one assist.
Brown opened the scoring with an unassisted tally in the 13th minute, and the Rams opened it up from there, building a 3-0 lead at the break.
Stephen Okai came up with what would prove to be the game-winner in the 16th minute, and Sam Blackburn capped the first-half scoring off an assist from Brown in the 38th minute.
Brown then finished the scoring for Mobile with a goal in the 52nd minute, before AUM grabbed a goal three minutes later after the game was decided.
Mobile visits Spring Hill College to close out the regular season Saturday, Oct. 30 at 3:30 pm.
