JACKSON, Miss-- The University of Mobile men's basketball team opened the 2010-11 campaign with a 54-73 loss at non-conference opponent Tougaloo College Monday evening.
Mobile was held to 37% shooting from the floor and Donte Walker was the only Ram to get going, pouring in a game-high 22 points, while hitting 8-of-12 free throws.
Matthew Turner added 8 points on 4-of-6 shooting.
Tougaloo out shot Mobile 43% to 37% and held a 48-26 edge in rebounds, including a 20-6 edge in offensive boards. Brock Dockery led Mobile with 6 boards, while four Bulldogs bested that total.
Three Bulldogs scored in double digits, led by 17 points from Jejuan Jacks.
Mobile started the game by taking an 8-2 lead, as four different players scored in the first 4:11. Things went downhill from there, with Tougaloo scoring the next 11 points and taking the lead for good on a 3-pointer from Ananza Richardson just 6:57 into the contest.
In the second half, the Rams would get no closer then 11 points as Tougaloo led by as much as 25 at the 1:39 mark.
The Rams (0-1) visit NCAA-I Nicholls State Thursday, Nov. 4 at 6:30 pm in an exhibition contest.
