Mobile Men & Women Host Postseason Soccer Saturday

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile men's and women's soccer teams have had impressive regular seasons, and will be awarded for that Saturday, when they get to play at home in the opening round of the SSAC Tournament.

The University of Mobile is the only school hosting men's and women's soccer games, as the 14th-ranked Lady Rams will host Southern Wesleyan at 5 pm, followed by the 8th-ranked men's team playing host to Lee University at 7:30 pm.

The Mobile women boast a 10-5-1 overall record and a 4-1 mark in the SSAC West Division. As the No. 1 seed, the Lady Rams will host the 4th-seed from the East Division in Southern Wesleyan, who enters at 7-7-2 overall and 3-3-1 in division play.

On the men's side, the Rams clinched the top spot in the standings with a 4-0-1 conference ledger to go along with a 12-3-2 overall record. Lee is the 4th seed in the East Division with a 3-3 conference record and a 7-10-1 overall mark.

Mobile is 6-1 at home, while Lee is 1-6-1 in away contests. Deshorn Brown leads Mobile with 14 goals and 5 assists for an impressive 33 points, while Eoin Dolan and Onesimus Ikungo have each tallied 4 goals. Jason Williams and the Mobile defense have pitched 7 shutouts on the season, limiting opponents to 17 goals in 17 games.

Missy Stovall and Christy Lachappelle lead the Mobile women with 21 points apiece. Stovall has 9 goals and 3 assists, while Lachappelle has 8 goals and 5 assists. Kassie Ruff and Brianna Simmons have tallied 5 goals apiece, while the Mobile defense has allowed only 16 goals all year. Lorna Brownlie has 6 shutouts in goal.

The tournament is single-elimination and the rest of the games will be played in Gulfport, Miss., Nov. 11-13, with the champion earning an automatic bid to the NAIA National Championship. The Mobile men already get a free pass to the Round of 16 at nationals, as the host team.
