MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile men's basketball team improved to 1-1 on the season with a 73-65 home victory over Voorhees College Saturday afternoon.
Mobile (1-1) visits Southern University at New Orleans Nov. 9 at 7:30.
Donte Walker led the Rams with 21 points and 5 steals, while shooting 7-of-17 from the floor.
Brock Dockery chipped in 15 points and 8 rebounds, while Matthew Turner added 11 points and 7 boards for the Rams.
Mobile shot 33% for the game and outrebounded the Tigers 43-38. Voorhees shot 45% from the floor, but turned the ball over 23 times, compared to 14 for the Rams. The Rams also used 20 offensive rebounds to make up for the lesser shooting percentage.
Voorhees got 13 points from Travis Dupree and 11 points from Antwon Allston.
Mobile jumped ahead 10-2 right off the bat as Brock Dockery tallied 7 early points. Voorhees battled back to take an 18-17 lead, and the half went back-and-forth from there until Mobile took a four-point lead into the break.
The Rams never trailed in the 2nd half and led by as much as 10 points, while never leading by less than 3 points.
