NEW ORLEANS, La-- The University of Mobile men's basketball team hit the road Tuesday and took down non-conference foe SUNO 77-59.
The Rams (2-1) will return home to host Texas College Thursday, Nov. 11 at 7:30 pm. SUNO falls to 0-1 on the season.
Brock Dockery led the team with 20 points and 9 rebounds, Donte Walker added 16 points and 9 boards, Matthew Turner chipped in 10 points and 7 rebounds, and Spencer Duke dished out 10 assists in the winning effort.
Jeremy Montgomery led the Knights with 20 points.
Mobile shot 50% for the game, including 58% in the first half, while the stout Mobile defense held the Knights to a paltry 29% effort from the floor.
SUNO grabbed a 4-2 lead 2:41 into the game, but back-to-back buckets from Matthew Turner gave the Rams a 6-4 lead 3:06 into the contest and Mobile never trailed from there.
Those two buckets from Turner were part of a 12-0 run that gave the Rams a 14-4 lead.
The Knights closed within 11-18 with 13 minutes to go in the half on a Jared Drake free throw, but the Rams answered with a 14-3 run to take an 18-point lead as Walker and Dockery tallied six points apiece.
From there, the Rams pushed their lead to as much as 27 in the half, and in the second half they never led by less than 16 points.
