MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile men's basketball team held off visiting Texas College for a 74-63 non-conference victory Thursday evening in NAIA basketball action.
Mobile (3-1) hosts Trinity Baptist College (Fla.) Monday, Nov. 15 at 7:30 pm.
Ji Kimbrough led the Rams with 21 points on 7-of-14 shooting. Brock Dockery added 18 points and 9 boards while hitting 4-of-7 from 3-point range, and Donte Walker added 18 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Kevin Calloway added 13 points and 6 rebounds in the paint.
Marshall Taylor led the Steer with 17 points on 6-of-10 shooting from the floor.
Mobile shot 54% for the game, compared to 43% for the visitors, and held a 37-25 rebounding edge.
The opening half was back-and-forth early, with Texas College leading 17-14, but the Rams answered with a 12-4 run to take a 26-21 lead and never looked back. Mobile was clinging to a 26-23 lead at the 5:40 mark of the half, but a pair of 3-balls from Dockery sparked an 8-0 surge for an 11-point lead.
The Rams never trailed in the second half, as they led by as much as 19 points. Mobile took a 10-point lead just 2:06 into the half and led by double figures the rest of the way.
