GULFPORT, Miss-- The 8th-ranked University of Mobile men's soccer team ousted Southern Poly 2-0 to win the 2010 SSAC Men's Soccer Tournament Championship Saturday.
Mobile (15-3-2) will next play in the 2010 NAIA Men's Soccer National Championship Nov. 29 - Dec. 4 in Orange Beach, Ala.
Southern Poly out shot Mobile 11-7 and held a 6-3 edge in shots on target, but the Mobile defense held up and the Mobile offense used a pair of free kicks to score.
Chris Dillon opened the scoring in the 40th minute when he headed home a free kick from Ruben Diaz to stake the Rams to a 1-0 lead.
In the 60th minute, March Joseph got on the other end of a Diaz free kick to cap the scoring.
Jason Williams made 5 saves in goal for Mobile while pitching a shutout.
