NEW ORLEANS, La-- The University of Mobile men's basketball team fell 45-65 at Xavier University-Louisiana Monday evening in Gulf Coast Athletic Conference action.
Xavier out shot Mobile 58% to 36% from the field and finished with a 50% (4-8) to 8% (1-13) edge from 3-point range.
Donte Walker led the Rams with 16 points, while Robert Golston added 8 points and 4 rebounds. Michael Harvey finished 4-4 from 3-point range for Xavier to tally 12 points, while Scott DeRonn added 11 points.
Xavier used the opening half to build up a 32-18 lead by out shooting Mobile 67% to 26% from the field. Xavier had built a 24-9 lead before the Rams finally hit double digits on a Walker free throw with 6:55 left in the half.
Early in the second half, Xavier stretched a 32-22 lead into a 45-25 advantage with a 13-3 run.
Mobile (16-9, 9-7) hosts Belhaven College Thursday, Feb. 25 at 7:30 pm in the team's final regular season home contest.
