CLINTON, Miss-- The University of Mobile men's team finished in 15th place out of 17 teams at the MC/Watson Ford Invitational hosted by Mississippi College Saturday morning. The women also ran, but did not have enough runners to qualify as a team.
The University of West Florida won the meet with 52 points and a team time of 2:19:33.94, while the Rams finished with 406 points and a time of 2:49:42.27. Fellow Gulf Coast Athletic Conference schools Loyola and Belhaven finished 12th and 13th with 341 and 370 points, respectively.
Freshman Zach Gaines again led the Rams with a time of 30:07.70 while finishing in 47th place. Josh Stodghill finished at 33:12.64, Bryan Albritton came in at 34:10.87, Kaleb Heffner clocked in at 34:11.10, John Fincher finished at 37:59.96 and Nick Weaver finished at 40:41.43.
For the Lady Rams, Joanna Canning finished 83rd with a time of 30:28.77 and Tiffany Tindall clocked in at 31:48.01. The women ran a 6K race.
The races were held at the Choctaw Trails Course in Clinton, MS. The Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Championships will be held at the same course on Nov. 7, so this race, and next Saturday's race at the same course will give the UM runners a nice preview of what to expect in the championship run.
