UM's Season Ends In GCAC Quarterfinals

NEW ORLEANS, La-- The University of Mobile women's basketball team fell 75-48 at Loyola University in the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Tournament Quarterfinals Wednesday.

 

Mobile ends the season with a 17-12 record, while Loyola (18-10) advances to the semifinals Friday.
Alyscia Jordan led the Lady Rams with a season-high 10 points, in addition to grabbing 6 boards. Alice Honnery finished with 8 points, 8 blocks and 5 blocks, Morgan Melancon added 7 assists, and Kelsie Ruff tallied a season-high 8 points and grabbed 6 steals.
 
Keiva Council led Loyola with 18 points and 7 assists, while Libby Collyer added 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Wolfpack.
 
The first half set the tone for Loyola, as they out shot Mobile 39% (13-33) to 26% (7-27) on their way to building a 36-16 lead at the break. They also held a 7-0 advantage from the free throw line and out-rebounded Mobile 26-17 while forcing 14 turnovers.
 
Morgan Crawford netted Mobile's first points on a 3-pointer with 16:40 left to make the game 6-3, but the Lady Rams went scoreless over the next 8:13 as Loyola went ahead 18-3 before a Honnery bucket made it 18-5. Loyola again held Mobile scoreless over the next 3:04 while building a 26-5 lead. Over the final 5 minutes, the Lady Rams bested their scoring output from the game's first 15 minutes, 9-7. Collyer and Council tallied 10 points apiece for the Wolfpack in the opening 20 minutes.
 
Mobile finished the game shooting only 30%, compared to 45% for the Wolfpack.
