MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile softball team made quick work of visiting Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College with a 9-0, 5 inning, run-rule victory on Friday at the University of Mobile Classic.
Kamaron Strickland scattered 6 hits over 4 innings to pick up the win, while walking none and fanning 1.
Holli McLeod, Kirstyn Joiner, Erica Bracey and Ally Scott each finished 2-3 with 1 RBI, while Jessica Swanson added 2 hits. Hannah Beth Baker and Jessica Palmer each finished 1-1 with 1 run and 1 RBI.
After going down in order in the 1st, the Mobile bats woke up in the 2nd inning to take control of the game with a 6-run, 6-hit frame. Mobile started the inning with a pair of quick outs before the next 7 batters reached safely. Bracey smoked a RBI-double in the frame and Scott added a RBI-triple.
The Lady Rams added a trio of runs in the 4th to account for the run-rule margin of eight. Jessica Palmer produced a RBI-single and Joiner stroked a RBI-double in the inning.
Mobile (12-3) will return to action Sunday at 2 pm when they host Reinhardt on the final day of the University of Mobile Classic. The tournament continues Saturday with games 8 am - 8 pm.
