The Bethel Lady Wildcats scored twice in the 1st and twice in the 7th to beat Thomas University 5-4 Saturday in Gulf Shores. Sydney McMillin got the win for Bethel, while Rachel Ivancic took the loss.

Jennifer Towson went 3-4 for Bethel, while Amanda Renfroe and Katie Pacific teamed up for the win in the 7th. Renfroe singled home the tying run in the 7th and then Pacific knocked in the game-winner.

Houston-Victoria def. Lee 1-0
Emily Bergstrom picked up the win for UH-Victoria as the Lady Jaguars got the lone run in the top of the 2nd thanks to a pair of Lee errors. For Lee, Savanna Bell and Hernanza Ruiz each finished 2-3. UH-Victoria finished with 5 hits in the game.

Trevecca Nazarene def. McKendree 5-3

Campbellsville def. Montreat 3-1
Courtney Turpin fanned 12 Montreat hitters and allowed only 4 hits to pick up the victory for Campbellsville.

At the plate, Morgan Bullock smoked a solo homerun for the winners, while Jamie Lokken hit one for Montreat. Campbellsville took charge with single tallies in each of the first three innings and Montreat did not get on the board until the top of the 6th.

Southern Nazarene def. Spring Hill 9-0 (6)
Kaci Crawford got the win for the Crimson Storm by limiting the Badger lineup to 1 hit and striking out 7. Sam Brooks took the loss after giving up 9 hits and striking out only 1 batter.

Junior 1st baseman Katie Hale paced Southern Nazarene at the plate with a 3-4 effort, while Kayla Moran recorded Spring Hill's only hit, a double.

Columbia def. Montreat 4-3
Kacey Rehagen allowed only 2 earned runs on 7 hits while striking out 9 to pick up the win for Columbia.

At the dish, Marli Hayes went 2-3 with 2 runs scored, Rachel Coleman drove in 2 and had a double and Tori Gehlery finished 1-2 with 1 RBI.

For Montreat, Brittany Draughn homered, Emily Renner went 2-3 with a run scored and Kristin Valdel went 1-3 with a double.

Oklahoma Christian def. St. Thomas 10-2 (5)
Leigh Leonard picked up the win for the Lady Eagles, while Denise Prieto was tagged with the loss for St. Thomas.

For OKC, Davee Croy went 1-2 with 2 runs scored and 4 RBI, Taylor Renshow reached base 3 times, Jade Tallbull finished 1-2 with 1 run and 1 RBI and Leonard helped her own cause with a 2-3 effort. Melissa King finished 2-2 with 1 RBI to lead St. Thomas at the dish, while Jenny Sanchez finished 1-2.

Oklahoma Christian def. Martin Methodist 3-1
Ashley Paxton picked up the win for OKC, while Chrissy Worth took the loss for the Redhawks.

For Oklahoma Christian, Kayla Jennings finished 3-3 at the plate with 1 RBI, while Sara Peoples went 2-3 and scored a run. Karina Delos Santos went 2-4 with 1 RBI and 1 run for Martin Methodist

Central Methodist def. Oklahoma Baptist 3-1
Aubrey Utley picked up the win for Central Methodist by limiting Oklahoma Baptist to 6 hits and striking out 5 batters. Cassidi Henderson took the loss for OBU despite fanning 7.

Mary Kate Townley went 2-3 with a double for the victors, while Alyssa Henkes finished 1-3 with a triple for the Bison.

Bethel def. Spring Hill 5-4
Lindsey Davis went 2-4 at the plate and Brooke Cary finished 2-3 for Bethel, as the Wildcats defeated Spring Hill 5-4 thanks in large part to a 3-run 4th.

For Spring Hill, Brooke Turlich finished 2-4, Kayla Moran went 2-3 and Katelyn Hinson went 2-2. Brittany Fields got the loss for the Badgers after giving up 4 hits and fanning 2.

Freed-Hardeman def. Campbellsville 3-1
Sara Elizabeth Cousar tossed a 2-hitter and struck out 3 to pick up the win for Freed-Hardeman. Courtney Turpin took the loss for Campbellsville.

The bulk of the offensive damage came from a 2-out homer off the bat of Amber VanSandt. Campbellsville's Emma Napier went 1-3 with a run scored in the losing effort.

Lindsey Wilson def. Cumberland 8-0 (5)
Cumberland University managed just two hits off of Lindsey Wilson pitching as the Bulldogs dropped their third straight contest with an 8-0 defeat in five innings Friday afternoon in the Gulf Coast Invitational at the Gulf Shores Sportsplex.

Cumberland (11-6) had four baserunners, three of which got into scoring position, against the Blue Raiders, but the Bulldogs were unable to scratch out a run for the second time on the day after dropping an earlier game to No. 25 University of Mobile, 9-0.

The top of the first inning saw all three Bulldog batters go down swinging. LWC starter Anyibell Ramirez, who ranks third in the NAIA in strikeouts, totaled six strikeouts in three innings of work. Last year against CU, the pitcher recorded 30 K's and gave up four hits in two games.

The Blue Raiders (13-1) struck first with three runs on four hits in the bottom of the first inning. Alexis Rogers led off with a single and was moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Amy Harner before Jamie Williams and Ally Goniea posted RBI hits. After a walk, Mikaila Etheredge drove in another run on a single and the next two batters got free passes to reload the bases, but Jordan Gilland flew out to end the threat.

Heather James singled to right field with one out in the top of the second and was safe at second on a fielder's choice grounder hit by Meghan White. The next two Bulldogs struck out as CU couldn't get on the board.

With one out in the bottom of the second, Cumberland missed an opportunity for an inning-ending double play that could have limited the damage.

The Blue Raiders scored on an RBI single by Goniea before Emily Priar drew a walk to load the bases for Etheredge, who popped to the edge of the grass on the right side of the infield. Amber Mayne hauled in the out, catching all of LWC's runners off the base. The CU second baseman fired to the far side the infield, but wasn't quick enough to get the Williams returning to third.

Lauren Seibert made the Bulldogs pay for not converting the double play, sending a bases-clearing double over the head of White in left field, making it a 7-0 game.

In the top of the third, Christina Manis singled and advanced third after a passed ball and a wild pitch, but a pop fly and a groundout left her stranded 60 feet away.

Lindsey Wilson loaded the bases in the fifth inning on a pair of singles sandwiched around a walk and Goniea took five-pitch walk to tally the game-ending RBI.

St. Gregory's def. Shorter University 2-1
St. Gregory's scored twice in the bottom of the 1st and pitcher Kailee Neal made those runs stand up, getting the victory in the circle. Libby Munson took the loss for Shorter.

Southern Nazarene def. Houston-Victoria 6-5
Tiffany Gossett picked up the win in relief for Southern Naz, after Jordan Simmons started and allowed 5 earned runs in 6.2 innings. Three different UH-Victoria pitchers combined to give up 6 runs in the contest.

Amy Madden jacked a 2-run home run for SNU, while Allison Fields and Kristina Forest swatted solo bombs. Tara Williams hit a solo homer for UH-Victoria, while Courtney Pettit and Ashley Winegeart each finished 2-4 at the plate.

UH-Victoria built a 3-0 lead after 3 innings, but Southern Nazarene tallied at least 1 run over the final five innings, including the tying run in the 7th and the winning run in the 8th.

William Woods def. Grand View 7-1
Kelsey Schulte went the distance for William Woods, allowing only 1 run and striking out 4 in the 7 inning game. Schulte also went 2-4 at the plate to pace William Woods offensively, while Lindsey LeCuru went 1-3 with 2 RBI. Audrey Crabtree scored twice and had a RBI-double, and Chelsea Loethen drove in 3 runs.

For Grand View, Anna Arnold finished 2-3, while Dacia Miller had their lone RBI. William Woods improves to 8-1 with the win.

AUM def. St. Thomas 8-6
Courtney Baker picked up the win in relief for the Lady Senators with 2 innings of 1-hit, shutout relief after Brandi Richards started and gave up 6 runs on 7 hits in 5 innings of work. Nikki Sanchez took the loss after allowing 2 runs in 1 inning of relief work.

For AUM, Taylor Burt finished 2-4 with 2 RBI and scored the go-ahead run in the bottom of the 6th, while Richard and Ashton Nelson each finished 2-4 with 1 RBI. Danielle Kirkpatrick went 1-3 with 2 RBI at the plate and Shea Driggers tied the game with a RBI-hit with 2 outs in the 6th.

For St. Thomas, Sasha Horton finished 3-5 with 2 RBI, while Denise Prieto went 2-4 with a pair of runs driven in. Danielle Borrelli drove in a pair and Monica Garcia finished 1-3 and touched home twice.

Mobile def. Oklahoma Baptist 2-1
Following a route in Friday's opener, the Lady Rams had to rally to squeak by Oklahoma Baptist 2-1 in their final game on Friday.

Victoria Buie went the distance to grab the win for Mobile, striking out 9 batters and allowing only 1 run on 4 hits. Oklahoma Baptist struck first with small ball in the 1st. Alyssa Henkes started the frame with a bloop hit and moved all the way to 3rd on a sac bunt. She then scored on a bunt single from Theresa Garcia. But, Buie settled down from there, fanning a batter to end the frame and allowing only 2 hits the rest of the way.

Offensively, Mobile recorded only 3 hits, with Jessica Rogers going 2-2 with a double and 2 RBI and Hannah Beth Baker finishing 1-2 with 1 run.

With Buie cruising, Mobile did all the offensive damage they would need in the 5th. Korie Fontenot walked, Baker singled and Mayles Rodriguez walked to start the frame, and after a strikeout Rogers smashed a 2-run single off the third baseman's glove to bring home the winning tallies.

Mobile (16-3) returns to action Saturday at 11 am against Lindsey Wilson College.

William Carey def. Columbia College 2-1
Anna Ard threw her third no-hitter of the season as No. 3 William Carey improves to 14-0 on the season, defeating No. 20 Columbia College (MO), 2-1.

Ard and Columbia’s Valerie Teter put on a pitching display for the ages as the two hurlers combined for 27 strikeouts on the day. The Lady Crusaders got the scoring started in the first inning as Casey Alexander’s RBI triple scored Tan Montgomery to make to 1-0 WCU. Jeana Erickson followed shortly after with an RBI sacrifice fly to centerfield to score Alexander to give the Lady Crusaders a 2-0 lead.

The margin remained 2-0 until the fourth inning as Ard issued three walks and had a hit batsmen which scored a Columbia run to trim the lead to 2-1.  Ard would work her way out the jam in the fourth and retired the final 10 batters she faced to preserve the win.

Alexander led Carey at the plate going 2 for 3  with an RBI.

Mobile def. Cumberland 9-0
The 25th-ranked University of Mobile softball team opened up pool play action at the 2011 Gulf Coast Invitational with a convincing 9-0 win over Cumberland Friday at the Gulf Shores Sportsplex.

Kamaron Strickland cruised through a complete game effort, fanning three and allowing only 4 hits in the shutout, while Mobile roughed up Cumberland starter Allison Blackwood for 5 runs on 7 hits in 3 innings.

Mayles Rodriguez finished 2-2 with a pair of walks, 4 RBI and a home run out of the leadoff spot for the Lady Rams, while Milagros Lozada finished 2-4 with 4 RBI and another bomb. Jessica Rogers and Jessica Swanson each added 2-4 efforts at the plate.

CaSarah Gilliam was the lone Cumberland batter to record multiple hits, as she finished 2-3 hitting out of the 2-hole.

Mobile started the scoring with a 2-run homer off the bat of Lozada in the 1st and went on to score in every inning but the 2nd.

Lee def. Thomas 5-0
Caitlin Beshears picked up the win for Lee by striking out 8 and allowing only 5 hits in a shutout effort.

Charlie Wooden belted a 2-run homer for Lee, while Tabitha Farrow finished 1-3 with a triple and 1 RBI. Nicole Rodriguez finished 2-3 at the plate.

St. Gregory's def. LSU-Alexandria 5-4
St. Greg's held a 3-0 lead heading into the 7th, when the Generals of LSUA tallied 4 to take a 4-3 lead. But, St. Gregory's answered right back with a pair in the bottom half of the frame to win the game. Kailee Neal was the winning pitcher, while Cortney Kennedy took the loss.

William Woods def. Martin Methodist 2-1
Mackenzie Bowden picked up the win for William Woods by limiting Martin Methodist to 1 run on 4 hits in a complete-game effort. She struck out 8 batters. Caroline Ezell took the loss despite giving up only 3 hits in 7 innings of action, while fanning 3.

Nobody in either lineup recorded multiple hits, while Megan Willard led William Woods with a 1-3, 1 RBI, 1 run effort at the plate. Courtney Wilkinson finished 1-2 with 1 RBI for the winners. Amber Kinsey led Martin Methodist with a 1-3 effort at the dish, scoring 1 run.

William Carey def. Freed-Hardeman 9-0 (6)
Judy Barber belted two home runs and drove in four runs as No. 3 William Carey defeated Freed –Hardeman University, 9-0 (6) on day one of the 2011 Gulf Coast Invitational.

Barber, who finished the day 4 for 4, hit a pair of two run home runs, one in a three run first inning and the other in a two run fourth inning. Carey got a solid outing in the circle from Alyssa Boutwell who improved to 5-0 on the season with a one hit three strikeout performance in five innings of work.

Shana Gunter and Tan Montgomery each went 3 for 3 at the plate for the Lady Crusaders in the win.

Bailey Morgan collected the lone hit for the Lady Lions (1-4).

AUM def. Grand View 6-1
AUM improved to 17-0 as Courtney Baker and Brandi Richards combined on a 1-run ball game for the Lady Senators. Baker picked up the win by fanning 6 over 4 innings, while Richards k'd 6 over 3 innings.

The Lady Senators got contributions up and down the lineup. Jyssica Peppers went 2-4 with 2 runs and a triple, Megan Rogers finished 2-4 with 1 RBI and a double, Whitney Wyatt finished 2-4, Shea Driggers went 2-3 with 1 run and 1 RBI and Kacie Ryal drove in a pair. AUM scored 3 runs in the 1st and built up a 4-0 lead before Grand View finally put a run on the board in the top of the 5th.

Megan Tompkins finished 2-4 with the lone RBI for Grand View.
