Columbia College def. Lee 10-0
Valerie Teter twirled a 1-hitter and the Columbia bats produced 10 runs on 16 hits in an impressive performance. Teter allowed only 1 hit and 1 walk, while fanning 13 batters. Offensively, eight different Columbia batters recorded a hit. Teter went 2-4 with 2 runs scored, Marli Hayes finished 2-4, Rachel Coleman went 2-5 with 2 RBI, both Tori Gehlert and Whitni Howell recorded 3 hits and Alex Ridenhour went 2-5 at the plate.

St. Gregory's def. Univ Houston-Victoria 8-7
St. Greg's rallied from a 7-2 deficit and cut the lead to 7-5 entering the 7th. They loaded the bags with 1 out to set the stage for the winning rally. Tara Nall drew a bases loaded walk to make it 6-7 and Blair Brooks tied it up with a sac fly that moved each runner up one base. Hay Lea Harper finished the rally by pulling the game-winning RBI-single past the 1st baseman into right field.

Brenau def. William Woods 9-5
Ellen Black picked up the win in the circle for Brenau, while McKenzie Fetner went went 3-4 with 1 RBI and 3 runs scored. Morgan Smith homered for Brenau. Lindsey LeCuru went 2-4 with 1 RBI for William Woods.

AUM def. Central Methodist 7-2
Brandi Richards picked up the win for the Senators by striking out 7 in 6 innings and allowing 2 runs on 5 hits. Jyssica Peppers finished 2-3 with 2 runs, Megan Rogers went 3-4 and Shea Driggers finished 1-3 with 2 RBI and a solo homer for the Senators. Jordyn Tolliver went 3-4 with 2 RBI for Central Methodist.

Pool Play:

Auburn-Montgomery def. Oklahoma Christian 4-1
Courtney Baker picked up the win by limiting the Lady Eagles to 1 run on 6 hits in a complete game effort. She struck out 5. Brandi Richards hit a 2-run homer in the 2nd to put AUM ahead for good and they added 2 runs on passed balls in the 5th. Jyssica Pepper drew 3 walks and scored a run and Taylor Renshaw hit a solo home run for OKC.

McKendree def. St. Gregory's 3-1

Houston-Victoria def. Spring Hill 6-1
Tara Williams recorded two hits , including a double for University of Houston-Victoria, while Kristina Droz and Araceli Galindo also recorded key hits for the Lady Jaguars. Kayla Tompkins recorded 2 hits for the Badgers.

William Carey def. Montreat 14-1 (5)
No. 3 William Carey pounded out a season high 19 hits and Alyssa Boutwell hurled five strong innings as WCU trounces Montreat College, 14-1 (5) in day two action of the Gulf Coast Invitational.

Carey got huge performances at the plate from Casey Alexander, Jeana Erickson and Judy Barber who each finished the day 3 for 4. Alexander and Barber each drove in three runs apiece. The Lady Crusaders plated three runs in the second, two in the third and fourth inning, and then put the game away with a seven run fifth.

Boutwell  allowed three hits, one run, and struck out nine to improve to 6-0 on the season.

St. Thomas def. Martin Methodist 3-1
St. Thomas scored 2 runs in the 2nd and held on to beat Martin Methodist 3-1. Denise Prieto picked up the win, while Caroline Ezell took the loss. Cindy Castrillon homered for St. Thomas in the win.

Southern Nazarene def. Thomas 4-2
Southern Nazarene held off Thomas 4-2 as Kaci Crawford allowed only 2 runs on 4 hits to pick up the victory. Ashley Werschmidt was tagged with the loss after giving up 3 earned runs on 6 hits.

Daphne Stewart went 2-4 at the plate with 1 RBI to lead SNU, while Katie Hale finished 1-3 with 1 RBI. Sorrel Hale and Alexa Fair each drove in a run for Thomas.

Lee def. Bethel 7-2
Brittany Balough improved to 6-3 and picked up the win for Lee by limiting Bethel to 4 hits and striking out 4. Hernanza Ruiz went 3-4 at the plate with a double and 2 runs scored, Ana Coscorrosa went 2-4 with her 1st collegiate homer and Charlie Wooden finished 3-4 at the dish. For Bethel, Jennifer Townson went 1-3 with a double.

Lindsey Wilson def. Oklahoma Baptist 2-0
Single tallies in the 3rd and 4th held up for Lindsey Wilson as Morgan Paschal allowed only 4 hits. Noelle McDowell took the loss in the game.

Shorter def. LSU-Alexandria 2-0

St. Gregory's def. Brenau 3-0

Thomas def. Houston-Victoria 4-3
Thomas defeated Houston-Victoria after the Lady Jags had tied it up with a pair of runs in the top of the 7th. Alexa Fair got the win by limiting UHV to 3 runs on 5 hits in a 7-inning effort. She struck out 4.

Daniele Valentino went 3-4 at the plate with 2 runs scored to pace the NightHawks, while Jessie Turner went 1-3 with 1 RBI and Anna Hall finished 2-3 with 1 RBI. The winning run touched home thanks to an illegal pitch in the bottom of the 7th.

Shorter def. McKendree 3-0
Shorter tallied runs in the 1st and 2nd innings and tacked on an insurance run in the 7th to beat McKendree 3-0.

Libby Munson got the win for Shorter while allowing only 2 hits and striking out 5 batters and BethAnn Swartz took the loss after giving up 8 hits. Anna Frazee went 3-3 with 2 doubles at the plate for Shorter, while Jackie Castenada finished 2-3 with 1 run scored. Ashleigh Murray went 2-3 at the plate for McKendree.

Campbellsville def. Columbia 6-3
Taylor Wroe got the win for Campbellsville and Courtney Turpin picked up the save.

At the plate, Emma Napier went 2-2 with a solo HR for the victors, while Bailey Dillender went 3-4 and Jordan Cornett went 2-3. Chelsie Crain went 3-3 at the plate for Columbia.

Central Methodist def. Cumberland 6-0

Cumberland stranded seven baserunners, missing out on several opportunities to score as the Bulldogs were shut out for the third time in the tournament.

The Bulldogs outhit CMU 7-6, but failed to plate a run after getting the leadoff batter on base three times. Cumberland also missed a golden opportunity in the second inning as Meghan White was left standing 60 feet away after a one-out triple.

Seven of CU’s nine starters produced hits with no one recording more than one. Nicole Swann was the only Bulldog on base twice, singling in the third inning and reaching on a fielder’s choice in the seventh.

Trevecca def. Brenau 5-4

William Woods def. Oklahoma Christian 8-3
MacKenzie Bowden struck out 14 batters and issued 0 walks to pick up the win for William Woods. William Woods' lineup put up all 8 runs in the first 3 innings and cruised from there.

Lindsey LeCuru went 2-4 at the plate with a double, homer and 3 RBI and Zoe Brittan went 2-4 with 1 RBI and 2 runs scored. Lauren Walk went 2-3 with 1 run scored for Oklahoma Christian.

Central Methodist def. Mobile 3-1
Danielle Taylor limited Mobile to 1 unearned run on 5 hits in a complete game effort.

Mayles Rodriguez went 2-3 at the top of the Mobile lineup, while Hannah Beth Baker reached base twice.

After falling behind 1-0 after 1, the Mobile offense tied it up thanks to a crucial 2-out error from CMU. CMU then went ahead for good in the bottom of the 4th when Briana Ford turned two leadoff walks into a pair of runs with a 2-out, 2-run single.

Freed-Hardeman def. Montreat 3-0
Tiffany Tucker struck out 6 and allowed only 2 hits to pick up the win as Freed-Hardeman defeated Montreat 3-0 in pool play action. Meanwhile, Sarah Elizabeth Cousar went 2-4 at the plate, while Bailey Morgan went 2-3 with a solo home run.

Southern Nazarene def. Bethel 3-2
A 2-run 3rd inning put Southern Nazarene up 3-2 and that score stood up as the teams put up 0's the rest of the way. Jordan Simmons got the win for the Crimson Storm after allowing 2 earned runs on 4 hits in 5.1 innings of work. Tiffany Gossett got the save with 1.2 innings of 1-hit, shutout relief.

Aubrey Jones paced the winners with a 2-2 performance at the plate, driving in a pair. Daphne Stewart and Kristina Forest went 2-3 at the dish. Brittney Edmonds and Jennifer Townsend each homered for Bethel.

Grand View def. St. Thomas 8-3
Grand View took control of the scoreboard with a 4-run 1st inning and added a 3-run 4th to run away with the 8-3 victory. Michele Schoop got the win, while St. Thomas' Brenda Emerson was tagged with the loss. Courtney Yacinich homered for Grand View.

Lindsey Wilson def. Mobile 5-0
Mobile just could not get the key hit to a run on the board, leaving 10 runners on base. Anyibell Ramirez got the win for the Blue Raiders by fanning 7 Mobile batters in 6 shutout innings. Victoria Buie took the loss for the Lady Rams after giving up 4 earned runs on 6 hits in 4 innings.

Mayles Rodriguez and Holli McLeod each went 2-4 out of the top two spots in the lineup, while Jessica Swanson finished 1-1 and reached base three times.

Both pitchers were cruising with 8 combined K's through 2 innings, but the Blue Raiders got to Buie for 4 runs on 4 hits in the 3rd. A 1-out walk and infield single started the rally, while Jamie Williams, Ally Goniea and Emily Priar did the damage with 2-out RBI hits.

Mobile had a chance to answer in the top of the 4th, but left the bases loaded, and went on to leave 2 runners on in each of the final 2 innings.

Trevecca Nazarene def. LSU-Alexandria 10-2 (5)
Hanna Schnebly improved to 2-0 on the season as Trevecca run-ruled the Generals of LSU-Alexandria 10-2 in 5 innings. Schnebly allowed only 1 earned run on 4 hits in her time in the circle.

At the plate, Kelsey Lantrip led the way for Trevecca, going 4-4 with 2 doubles and 4 runs scored out of the top spot in the lineup. Haylee Rogers went 3-4 with 1 RBI, Karli Rush finished 2-2 with 2 RBI and Breanna Zeis went 2-2.

William Carey def. Campbellsville 5-3
No.3 William Carey made things interesting, but in the end made the plays down the stretch as they defeat Campbellsville University (KY), 5-3 on day two of the Gulf Coast Invitational.

The Lady Crusaders got off to another quick start scoring three runs in the bottom of the first inning as Judy Barber singled home Tan Montgomery for the first WCU run and Jeana Erickson followed with a single that scored Casey Alexander and Barber.

Carey starter Kelsey Jo Smith got off to a great start retiring the first nine batters but in the fourth things began to unravel. With a runner on base Campbellsville’s Jennifer England battled back from an  0-2 count to draw a two out  walk. Alex Jane Clemmons followed with a single that scored Emma Napier for the first Campbellsville run.  Another single, this time  by Alyssa Barker loaded the bases for the Lady Tigers. Smith then hit the next batter which scored England and cut the WCU lead to 3-2.

In the top of the fifth another Carey error prolonged the inning and Campbellsville capitalized as England ripped a double to right to score Napier and tie the game at 3-3. Anna Ard entered in relief of Smith and worked out of the jam in the fifth to halt the Lady Tiger rally.

In the bottom of the sixth, WCU got singles from Barber and Shana Gunter to put two runners on with one out. Jasmine Shelby knocked in the go ahead run and Sarah Beckham followed with another RBI for insurance. It wouldn’t be needed as Ard worked a quick seventh to preserve the Carey win.

William Woods def. AUM 4-3
William Woods put up 2 runs in both the 5th and 6th innings to hold off Auburn-Montgomery 4-3 Saturday.

Kelsey Schulte picked up the win for William Woods by holding AUM to 2 runs on 3 hits while striking out 1 batter. Brandi Richards took the loss for the Lady Senators despite fanning 10 and walking only 1 in 7 innings.

Courtney Wilkinson finished 2-3 for William Woods and produced the game-winning RBI-single in the 6th, while Chelsea Loethen finished 1-3 at the plate.

Richards went 1-3 with 2 runs scored at the plate for AUM.

Lee def. Spring Hill 3-1 (8)
Spring Hill took the 7th-ranked Lady Flames to extras, but Lee took the game 3-1 in 8 innings.

Caitlin Beshears picked up the win for Lee by limiting the Badgers to 1 run on 5 hits in 5.1 innings of work. Samantha Brooks took the loss for Spring hill, giving up 3 runs on 8 hits in a complete-game effort. She fanned 5 and walked none.

Ana Coscorrosa and Charlie Wooden each finished with 2 hits for the Lady Flames, while the top 5 hitters in the lineup recorded at least 1 hit. Spring Hill managed only 5 hits, with Brooks and Katelyn Hinson going 1-3.

A Badger error and Hernanza Ruiz RBI-single plated the 2 Lee runs in the top of the 8th.

Martin Methodist def. Grand View 2-0

Columbia def. Freed-Hardeman 8-0
Columbia run-ruled Freed-Hardeman 8-0 in 5 innings on day two of the GCI.

Valerie Teter continued her impressive work in the circle by tossing a no-hitter and striking out a pair of batters.

Alex Ridenhour went 2-2 with 2 steals and 3 runs scored out of the leadoff spot for Columbia, while Teter finished 3-3 with 1 triple, 1 RBI and 2 runs scored for the Lady Cougars. Marci Hayes drove in 4 with a double and a homer.

Cumberland def. Oklahoma Baptist 3-2 (9)
Sarah Murray and Stephanie Gutierrez delivered back-to-back bases-loaded singles with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning, giving Cumberland University a 3-2 win over Oklahoma Baptist University Saturday morning in the Gulf Coast Invitational at the Gulf Shores Sportsplex. CU dropped its second game of the day, losing 6-0 to Central Methodist University.

Murray and Blackwood both finished the game 2-for-4. Allison Blackwood tossed all nine innings, improving to 5-3 with the win.
