Rams Drop 15-Inning Game To #12 Blazers

JACKSON, Miss-- The University of Mobile baseball team fell 1-0 in a 15-inning marathon game to 12th-ranked Belhaven University in SSAC West action Friday.

Mobile (18-9, 2-2) and Belhaven (21-6, 3-1) finish up the 3-game series with a doubleheader Saturday at 1 at Smith-Wills Stadium.

Josh Clarke picked up the win for the Blazers with 4 innings of 1-hit, shutout relief, while striking out 7 Ram hitters. Allen Johnson started for the Blazers and worked 11 innings of 6-hit, shutout ball. He fanned 10.

John Ladnier took the loss for the Rams after giving up 1 run on 3 hits in 5.1 innings of relief work. He struck out 2 and walked 1. Michael King started and scattered 8 hits over 9 shutout innings while fanning 7.

The lone run touched home in the bottom of the 15th after Jordan Brewer started the inning with a bunt single for the Blazers. A strikeout, walk and error loaded the bases with one out, and the game ended when Anthony Doss was hit by pitch to force home Brewer.

Justin Beck was the lone Ram with multiple hits, as the sophomore 2nd baseman went 2-for-6 from the leadoff spot. Anthony Doss finished 3-for-6 with the lone RBI for Belhaven, while Lake Eiland added 2 hits.

Mobile put runners in scoring position in the 1st, 2nd, 5th and 13th innings and put the leadoff man on in the 1st, 6th, 9th, 13th and 15th innings but could not plate a run.
