MONTGOMERY, Ala-- The 25th-ranked University of Mobile softball team swept No. 23 Auburn University-Montgomery by scores of 9-0 (6) and 5-2 to open up SSAC West play Sunday.
In the 9-0 victory, Kamaron Strickland picked up the win by limiting the Lady Senators to 5 hits and striking out 3 in 6 shutout innings.
Milagros Lozada led the way at the plate with a 3-4, 2 RBI, 2 run effort, while Erica Bracey finished 3-4 with 1 RBI and 1 run. Mayles Rodriguez finished 2-4 with 1 RBI and 1 run and Jessica Swanson finished 2-4 at the dish.
The final game saw Mobile take a 5-2 victory. Victoria Buie gave up an early 2-run home run and then shut AUM down the rest of the way to grab the win with 7 innings of 2-run ball. She struck out 3 and gave up 5 hits.
Korie Fontenot finished 2-3 with a 3-run homer and a double to lead the way at the plate. It is her second homer in the last three days. Rodriguez reached base three times from the top spot in the lineup, while Lozada finished 1-2 with 2 walks, 2 runs and 1 RBI.
Mobile (20-6, 2-0) visits Faulkner University Monday at 3 pm for a conference twin bill.
