Lady Rams Go 1-1 In Saturday Tennis Action

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile women's tennis team split a pair of matches Saturday. Mobile fell 3-5 to SSAC West foe Belhaven and then defeated non-conference opponent Tougaloo 6-3.

Against Belhaven, Rachel Hartley and Emily Kolakoski teamed up for the only doubles victory, an 8-0 win at No. 3 doubles. Claudia Borges - Kari Williams fell 5-8 at No. 1 and Nancy Machen - Samantha Parrot lost 1-8 at No. 2.

Borges won 6-2, 6-1 and Hartley won 6-0, 6-3 at the top two singles slots, while Parrott fell 1-6, 0-6; Williams lost 1-6, 3-6 and Kolakoski lost 1-6, 2-6.

In the day's final match, the Lady Rams picked up 2-of-3 doubles wins to get the victory.

Borges-Machen won 8-4 and Hartley-Kolakoski won 8-2, while Summersgill-Tracy Cullum fell 3-8.

In singles play, Borges won 6-2, 6-0; Hartley rolled 6-1, 6-0; Machen won 6-2, 6-4 and Kolakoski won 6-3, 6-2. Parrott fell 3-6, 1-6 and Summersgill lost 7-6 (10-8), 6-7 (5-7) (6-8).

Mobile (4-4, 1-2) visits Millsaps April 1 at 2:30 pm.
