Lady Rams Sweep Pair From Blue Mountain

HATTIESBURG, Miss-- The University of Mobile softball team swept a pair from Blue Mountain College Thursday, winning the opener 10-2 and taking the finale 9-1 in 5 innings.

Game one saw the 11th-ranked Lady Rams score early and late to roll to a 10-2 victory over Blue Mountain, as Victoria Buie picked up the victory by allowing 0 earned runs on 3 hits in 7 innings of work.

At the dish, Mayles Rodriguez finished 2-5 with 2 runs scored, Holli McLeod went 2-3 and Jessica Rogers finished 1-3 with 3 RBI. Milagros Lozada drove in a pair of runs to aid the Mobile attack.

Mobile started the game hot, scoring three runs in the top of the 1st on three hits and one error. Lozada tripled home a pair of runs, while Kirstyn Joiner drove in Lozada with a base hit. After putting up single tallies in each of the 2nd and 3rd frames, the Lady Rams were held scoreless in the 4th and 5th before erupting for five more runs over the final two innings.

A pair of Blue Mountain errors helped plate three Mobile runs in the 6th and a wild pitch and bases-loaded walk plated two more runs in the 7th to complete the scoring.

Kamaron Strickland picked up the win in the final game by limiting Blue Mountain to 1 run on 1 hit in 5 innings of work while striking out a pair of batters.

Jessica Swanson finished 2-2 with 3 RBI, Holli McLeod went 2-3 with 2 runs, Jessica Rogers finished 2-2 with 2 RBI and 2 runs and Eirca Bracey drove in a pair.

Mobile took control of the game with a 3-run 1st on 2 hits and 2 errors, with Lozada singling home one and Swanson providing another RBI-hit.

Mobile (28-8, 8-2) will host SSAC West foe Faulkner University Monday, April 11 at 4 pm for a doubleheader.
