MONTGOMERY, Ala-- The University of Mobile baseball team fell 9-2 to 19th-ranked Faulkner University Friday evening.
Mobile (29-21, 5-11) will battle Faulkner (40-10, 12-4) in a 1 pm doubleheader Saturday to close out the regular season. The Rams will enter the final day of the season one game behind William Carey for the final SSAC Tournament spot out of the West Division. William Carey (25-22, 6-10) will play a pair of games against Belhaven, after losing to the Blazers by a 3-2 score Friday.
R.L. Eisenbach shut down the Rams' offense, going the distance and allowing only 2 unearned runs on 8 hits. He struck out 10 and walked a pair, while the Mobile pitching staff surrendered 7 walks and 9 runs on 15 hits.
At the dish, Michael Clayton led the way for Faulkner, finishing 3-3 with 6 RBI, 3 runs scored and 2 home runs. Daniel Cayton and Jonathan Gober each added 4 hits for the Eagles.
