COLUMBUS, Ga-- Several University of Mobile baseball players were honored with the release of the 2011 Southern States Athletic Conference awards Sunday.
Jeremy Williams and Sam Mahoney were named to the All-Conference Team, Justin Beck was the team's Musco Lighting Champions of Character honoree, and John Irwin, Brady King and Hunter Norris were all named to the All-Academic Team.
Williams and Mahoney were two of the seventeen members chosen for the All-Conference Team. The Rams were one of five teams with multiple players named to the team.
Mahoney, a senior catcher from Columbia, SC, started 52 games for the Rams and hit .345 with 14 doubles, 5 home runs and 41 RBI. He slugged .515 and posted a .454 on base percentage.
Williams, a junior outfielder from Bellwood, AL, ranks 7th in the NAIA with 81 hits on the year and postted a .429 batting average in 51 games. He added 10 doubles and 6 homers, scored 46 runs, drove in 38 runs, slugged .587 and reached base at a .473 clip.
Mobile finished the season with a 29-23 record and posted a 19-9 mark at home.
