MOBILE, Ala—The University of Mobile women’s soccer program has announced its 2011 signing class that will look to build on the 2010 squad’s run to the Round of 16 at the 2010 NAIA Women’s Soccer National Championship.
The class is made up of 14 players thus far, with players coming from Alabama, Texas, Arizona, Mississippi, Georgia and California.
Saskia Adriance – Fwd – Enterprise HS
“Saskia is a very athletic, hard working player that is very eager to learn and should be able to contribute this year,” Mobile Head Coach Brian Person said.
Emily Baggett – MF/Fwd – Daphne HS
“She can play anywhere in the midfield or at forward,” Person said. “She’s an athletic, aggressive, hard working player that’s very coachable. We look for her to come in and be able to make vast improvements quickly, and wouldn’t be surprised to see her playing midway through the season.”
Jesslyn Fagundes – Fwd – Fresno City College
“Jesslyn was a 1st-Team JUCO All-American and we are excited she has chosen to come to UMobile, and expect her to impact our team from the start,” Person said.
Alyssa Fuller – Fwd – Gautier HS
“She is one of the most passionate players we have coming in,” Person said. “We are excited to get her in our environment where her natural athletic ability will allow her to develop her technical abilities.”
Brianna Heiss – D/MF – Daphne HS
“We are counting on Brianna to come in and contribute as a freshman,” Person said. “She has good athletic ability, is very strong, has an athletic body and is good in the air. She’s very simple tactically and technically, and her playing background from Phoenix should help her get significant minutes as a freshman.”
Bailey Huett – Fwd – North Richland Hills, TX – Covenant Christian Academy
“Bailey is a well-decorated forward from her high school that we are excited to have coming in,” Person said. “We are also excited because she is of the highest character and someone that will contribute to the atmosphere we expect to have.”
Bethan Morgans – MF – Houston, TX
“She played for The Challenge Soccer Club, which is one of the top clubs, and is a holding midfield player that will bring a lot of playing experience at a high level,” Person said. “We’ll be able to lean on that, and she should fight for playing time.”
Hillary O’Donegan – Fwd - George County HS – Lucedale, MS
“She is an athletic, hard working player that we expect to see rapid improvements from,” Person said. “She is eager to be coached and we are excited to see her improvement.”
Kelsey Pope – Def – The Woodlands, TX
“Kelsey played for the Texas Rush Soccer Club and is an outside back that is coming off a knee injury, but gradually getting more confidence,” Person said. “We look for her to improve rapidly and compete for a spot as the season progresses.”
Amanda Shontz – Fwd/MF – New Market, AL
“She has the ability to play forward or midfield, and has limited club experience, so having her in our environment on a daily basis will allow her to improve rapidly,” Person said.
Rebekah Spalding – Bastrop, TX
“Rebekah played for one of the top five club teams in the country in the Lonestar Soccer Club, and is a defender that could play defensive midfield,” Person said. “She is young, but has a lot of playing experience at a high level, and we expect her to come in and give us experience and youthful energy.”
Miranda Stewart – Sipsey HS - Tuscaloosa, AL
“Miranda is naturally athletic and has a great work rate,” Person said. “We are looking forward to her being in our environment to further develop her technical ability.”
Molley Ward – CMF – Scottsdale CC – Phoenix, AZ
“Molley is a central midfield player with a solid soccer background that will bring experience to a young team,” Person said. “We look for her to contribute from the start.”
Alexandra Watson – Upson-Lee HS – The Rock, GA
“She is a goalkeeper that we are excited to have coming in,” Person said. “We expect to see rapid improvement coming off an injury late this year, and she will give us depth at the goalkeeper position.”
