NAIA Women's Tennis National Championship Qualifiers Announced

KANSAS CITY, Mo—The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics released the 24 qualifiers for the 2011 NAIA Women’s Tennis National Championship and the University of Mobile received the host bid.

The tournament takes place May 17-21 at the Mobile Tennis Center. The Lady Rams (7-8) beat out Spring Hill for the host bid and are making their 7th-straight appearance and 18th trip overall.

Defending National Champion Fresno Pacific and 10-time National Champion Auburn University-Montgomery headline the field, while William Carey and Martin Methodist are making their first appearances.

Joining Mobile from the Southern States Athletic Conference, are Auburn-Montgomery, William Carey, Brenau and Lee.

The 24-team field is comprised of 14 squads who earned an automatic berth by winning their respective conference/independent/unaffiliated group tournament, nine at-large selections and one host berth. The nine at-large selections were determined by the final NAIA Women’s Tennis Coaches’ Top 25 Poll released Monday.

The National Championship bracket and pairings will be announced Tuesday by 5 pm.
