HATTIESBURG, Miss-- The 13th-ranked University of Mobile women's soccer team fell 2-3 to Northwood University in rainy conditions Saturday morning.
Mobile (0-1-1) will next play Carroll College Friday, Sept. 9 at 7 pm in the UMobile Orange Beach Classic.
Despite Mobile getting on the scoreboard first, via an own goal, Northwood controlled the tempo with a 16-3 edge in shots, with eight in each half.
Lorna Brownlie was forced to make eight saves for Mobile in 66 minutes of action in goal. Northwood also held an 8-4 edge in corner kicks.
The Seahawks' Helen Lynskey tied things up with a goal in the 17th minute, and the score sat at 1-1 heading to the half.
Keeping up the pressure in the second half, the Seahawks pushed ahead by a pair on goals from Annika Hogberg in the 55th minute and Elina Landeskog in the 61st minute.
Jesslyn Fagundes notched her first Mobile goal in the 88th minute, but it was not enough as the final score sat at 3-2 in favor of Northwood, who is receiving votes in the NAIA Top-25.
