No. 15 Lady Rams Down No. 17 Wildcats 3-1

MOBILE, Ala-- The 15th-ranked University of Mobile women's soccer team opened its 2011 home slate with a 3-1 victory over 17th-ranked Indiana Wesleyan University Friday evening.

Mobile (3-1-1) has won three-straight contests and will host No. 5 Martin Methodist Saturday at 5 pm.

The Lady Rams dominated possession and tempo, out-shooting the visitors 25-9 and finishing with a 6-0 edge in corner kicks taken.

Lorna Brownlie made four saves in goal to pick up the win for Mobile.

Offensively, the Lady Rams got goals from three different players. Brianna Simmons started the scoring just three minutes in, when she blasted home a feed from Jesslyn Fagundes from just-outside the 18-yard box.

Mobile kept up the pressure and added two more tallies in the opening 45 minutes. Christy Lachappelle scored off a cross from Kassie Ruff in the 22nd minute, and then Ruff ripped the ball past the goal keeper in the 38th minute, with the assist going to Fagundes.

Indiana Wesleyan added a goal with only six minutes left on a free kick.
