MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile volleyball team split a pair of decisions on the final day of the SSAC Cross-Over Tournament Saturday. Mobile opened the day with a 3-0 (25-15, 25-13, 25-12) win over Brewton-Parker University and then fell 0-3 (17-25, 16-25, 21-25) to 2nd-ranked Lee University.
Mobile (6-6, 1-2) will host Belhaven University Tuesday, Sept. 20 at 7:30 pm.
Against the Barons of Brewton-Parker, the Lady Rams' hit .342 as a team and held the Barons to a .047 hitting percentage.
Sara Van Wert led Mobile with 10 kills, while hitting .500 and adding 5 aces and 3 blocks. Kiara Gay added 7 kills and 7 digs, while Disah Kolassiba chipped in with 7 kills and 3 blocks. Tayler Houseknecht led the team with 5 blocks on the day. Melody Tenney paced the setters with 21 assists.
The going was a bit tougher against the Flames, as Mobile hit only .009 as a team, compared to .234 for Lee University.
Gay and Lisa Alms led the Lady Rams with 7 kills apiece, while Katy McCollister led with 13 digs, and Mobile again had solid net play with 7 team blocks. Van Wert finished with 4 blocks.
Lee's Irene Ojukwu led the way with 11 kills.
