MOBILE, Ala-- The 2nd-ranked University of Mobile men's soccer team steamrolled Shorter University 8-0 to open SSAC action Friday evening at Mobile.
The Rams (5-0, 1-0) will host conference foe Lee University Saturday at 7 pm.
Mobile dominated action from the get-go, finishing with a 32-5 edge in shots taken and a 13-3 edge in shots on target.
In the game, Deshorn Brown notched a hat trick, Marc Joseph scored twice with an assist, Gunnar Steindorsson tallied two goals and Stephen Okai finished with a pair of assists.
Brown opened the scoring for the Rams in the 4th minute when he blasted home a rebound off Steindorsson's saved shot. Brown made it 2-0 in the 18th minute when he controlled a pass from Okai and found net.
Shorter would not say "uncle" and the Rams kept going with two more in the opening 45 minutes and four more in the final period.
Eoin Dolan ripped a shot past the keeper in the 24th minute, while Joseph finished the scoring in the opening half with a tally.
Joseph and Brown scored just one minute and three minutes into the second half, respectively, and Steindorsson finished off the game with a pair of tallies.
