MOBILE, Ala-- The 3rd-ranked Lee University Lady Flames topped the 11th-ranked University of Mobile women's soccer team 3-1 in Southern States Athletic Conference action at Mobile Saturday evening.
The loss snaps Mobile's (5-2-1) five-game winning streak. The Lady Rams will next play at Southern Wesleyan Friday, Sept. 30 at 3 pm.
For the game, Lee out shot Mobile 27-4, but the Lady Rams were able to withstand a 9-1 deficit in shots in the opening 45 minutes as they battled the three-time defending NAIA Champions to a scoreless tie.
But, in the second half Lee was able to penetrate Mobile's defense and upped the tempo with an 18-3 edge in shots.
Lorna Brownlie turned in a valiant effort in goal for Mobile with 11 saves, but Lee found net three times in a 21 minute span.
Ashley Aragona scored in the 54th minute and Kim Conrad notched the game-winner in the 56th minute, with both goals coming off rebounds from shots by Leah Fortune.
Fortune also assisted the team's final goal in the 76th minute when she gave the ball to Ashley Aragona for the finish.
Christy Lachappelle got Mobile on the scoreboard in the 83rd minute off of an assist from Jesslyn Fagundes.
