Rams Add Three Transfers For 2011 Season

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile baseball program announced the addition of three more transfers for the 2011 season. Josh Blaylock comes to Mobile via Bishop State and Satsuma High School, while Drew Esslinger and John Irwin will head to Mobile from East Mississippi Community College. Blaylock is a versatile junior who has seen time in the outfield, infield and on the mound. At the plate in 2010, Blaylock hit .335 with 46 runs scored and 12 extra-base hits in a team-high 167 at-bats.

UM Baseball Adds Five JUCO Products

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile baseball team announced the addition of five JUCO players for the 2011 season. Jefferson Davis C.C. products Ryne Phillips and Michael King will head to Mobile along with Lurleen B. Wallace C.C. products Jeremy Williams, Ryan Waltman and Blake Hanson. Phillips prepped at Smith Station and will compete for playing time in the Mobile outfield right away. Last season, Phillips hit .375 with 12 doubles, 6 homers and 37 RBI. He slugged .583 and reached base at a clip of .442.

Beth Pilgrim Joins UM Softball Staff

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile announced the addition of Beth Pilgrim as Assistant Softball Coach. The Cantonment, Fla., native comes to Mobile after playing four years for the University of South Alabama softball team.  At Mobile, she will largely be responsible for working with pitchers and catchers, along with other day-to-day duties. Day-to-day duties include recruiting, practice planning, planning tournaments and many other responsibilities.

Women's Soccer Adds Two More

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile women's soccer program announced the addition of Dominique Jones and Brittany Boston for the 2010 season. Jones's primary position is goalkeeper, but she has played in the field, and the team will decide where to play her when she gets to Mobile. Boston is a midfielder whose "strength is her natural athletic ability," according to Mobile Head Coach Brian Person.

Lady Rams Add Another Runner

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile women's cross country program announced the addition of Allie Wheeler. "I am thrilled to announce the signing of Allie Wheeler, a remarkable runner with the competitive edge that we are looking for in our program,"  Coach Holly Person said. Allie is the Daughter of Paula Wheeler. The Nashville, Tenn., native currently lives in Zachary, LA.

Softball Championships To Be Held In Gulf Shores

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced that the 2011 and 2012 NAIA Softball National Championships will be hosted by the Alabama Gulf Coast Sports Commission (AGCSC), in conjunction with the University of Mobile (Ala.). The events will be played at the Gulf Shores Sportsplex in Gulf Shores, Ala. The 2011 national championship will take place May 19-25 and the 2012 event will be contested May 17-23.

Christa Hicks Transfers To Mobile

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile Volleyball Program announced the addition of Christa Hicks for the 2010 season. Hicks, a 5-10 outside hitter from Livermore, California, is transferring to Mobile from Chabot College. She was named All-Conference both seasons of competition and served as team captain. Prior to her college experience, she played volleyball and ran track at Granada High School.

Mobile Adds Michelle Hendrix To JV Volleyball Team

MOBILE, Ala—Coaches Jon and Amber Campbell are happy to add Michelle Hendrix to the 2010 Junior Varsity Volleyball Roster. Hendrix hails from Thorsby, AL where she played volleyball at Thorsby High School. She was a multi-sport athlete, competing in basketball, softball, and track in addition to volleyball. The small town atmosphere of UM led her to sign with the Rams.

Ohio Native Erica Rath Inks With Mobile Volleyball

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile volleyball program announced the addition of Newark, Ohio native Erica Rath for the 2010 season. Rath, a 5-11 middle blocker, brings high school and club experience to Mobile and is looking forward to continuing Mobile's success. "I am excited to play volleyball at UM because I see the potential to be a part of a National Championship team," Rath said. The Lady Rams have made three-straight trips to the NAIA National Championships.

Katy McCollister Signs Up For UM Volleyball

MOBILE, Ala-- Coaches Jon and Amber Campbell announced the signing of libero, Katy McCollister, for the 2010 UM volleyball season. The libero prepped at Lassiter High School in Marietta, Ga., and is a native of Roswell, GA. The two-time MVP was named to the All-State Team, All-Area Team, All-County Team and Senior All-Star Team in her four-year high school career.
