No. 23 Lady Rams Defeat Montevallo

MONTEVALLO, Ala-- The 23rd-ranked University of Mobile women's tennis team defeated NCAA II University of Montevallo 5-4 Friday afternoon. The Lady Rams (14-4, 8-4) host Gulf Coast Athletic Conference foe Loyola University-New Orleans Saturday at 10 am. Mobile picked up a pair of wins in doubles play to take a 2-1 lead, and then cruised in the top three singles spots to take the match.

Mobile Defeats Rival Badgers 6-5

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile spotted Spring Hill four runs in the 1st inning and rallied to win 6-5 in Gulf Coast Athletic Conference baseball action Friday at Mobile. Mobile (19-26, 12-17) and Spring Hill (24-20, 13-14) finish the series with a doubleheader Saturday at 1 pm. Chris Peacock picked up the win after allowing 3 earned runs on 8 hits in 7 innings. He struck out 4 and walked 4. John Ladnier picked up a 2-inning save, allowing only 1 hit and fanning 2.

UM Men's Golf Finishes 2nd At GCAC Championships

HATTIESBURG, Miss-- The University of Mobile men's golf team finished 2nd at the 2010 Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Championship and Jacob Morgan won the 2010 Individual GCAC Championship. After Tuesday's opening round, the Rams and Spring Hill were tied for 1st after shooting a pair of 17-over 305's, but the Badgers carded a 10-over 298 Wednesday to win the tournament. Mobile finished 35-over 611 (305, 306) and Spring Hill finished 1st at 27-over 603 (305, 298).

No. 25 Lady Rams Split With No. 16 William Carey

HATTIESBURG, Miss-- The 25th-ranked University of Mobile softball team took the nightcap 6-5 to earn a split with 16th-ranked William Carey University in GCAC action Tuesday. William Carey won the opener 8-5. Christie Soulis grabbed the win in the finale after limiting William Carey to 2 runs on 4 hits in 3 innings of relief. Kamaron Strickland worked the final inning for the save. Four of Mobile's six runs were unearned thanks to three Lady Sader errors. Ally Scott finished 1-3 with 2 RBI and Korie Fontenot finished 1-3 with 2 runs scored. Larke Nightengale, Tan Montgomery and Jeana Erickson had 2 hits apiece for William Carey.

Trio Named GCAC Players Of The Week

HATTIESBURG, Miss-- The Gulf Coast Athletic Conference released the GCAC Players of the Week awards for the week ending April 11, and the University of Mobile had three athletes honored. Leslie Pickette was named GCAC Softball Pitcher of the Week, Jessica Palmer was named GCAC Softball Player of the Week and Maegan Rice was named GCAC Women's Golfer of the Week.

Lady Rams Finish 9th At Tournament

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla-- The University of Mobile women's golf team finished in 9th place at Embry-Riddle's Bash at the Beach Sunday. Mobile carded a 93-over 661 (345, 316) at the Par-71 Daytona Beach Golf Club. The Lady Rams trailed Spring Hill by seven strokes after round one, but bested the Lady Badgers by 12 strokes in the final round to swap positions in the final standings.

JACKSON, Miss-- The 23rd-ranked University of Mobile women's tennis team defeated Gulf Coast Athletic Conference opponent Belhaven University 8-1 Saturday. The Lady Rams (13-3, 8-3) swept doubles play and and then cruised to wins at the top two singles spots to clinch the five points needed for the win. Mobile visits William Carey Tuesday, April 13 at 5 pm.

Crusaders Take Pair From Rams In GCAC Play

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile baseball team dropped both ends of Saturday's Gulf Coast Athletic Conference twin bill with William Carey, falling 9-4 in the opener and 11-4 in the finale. Matt Carter grabbed the win for William Carey in the opener by scattering 10 hits over 7 innings, while allowing only 2 earned runs. Justin Beck went 3-4 with 3 runs scored for Mobile, while Hunter Norris finished 2-3 with 2 RBI. Ian Sharpe went 2-4 with 2 RBI and Josh Dannelley finished 2-4 with 3 RBI for the Crusaders

Mobile Men Take Down GCAC Foe Belhaven

JACKSON, Miss-- The University of Mobile men's tennis team picked up a 6-3 victory at Gulf Coast Athletic Conference foe Belhaven University Saturday morning. Mobile (9-3, 6-3) picked up wins at No. 1 and 2 doubles to take a 2-1 lead into singles play. The Rams then took 4-of-6 singles matches to grab the victory. The Rams play at William Carey Tuesday, April 13 at 5 pm.
