Lady Ram Softball Takes Two From Falcons

MOBILE, Ala-- The 25th-ranked University of Mobile softball team swept a doubleheader from visiting Notre Dame College by scores of 7-0 and 6-5 Thursday. Mobile (11-3) will host Saint Mary of the Woods College Friday at 4 pm. Victoria Buie picked up the victory in the opener by throwing 5 innings of 3-hit, shutout ball. She struck out two.

#25 Lady Rams Split With #15 Bethel

MOBILE, Ala-- The 25th-ranked University of Mobile softball team battled 15th-ranked Bethel College in a pair of extra inning affairs Tuesday, winning the opener 5-4 in 8 innings and falling 12-11 in the 8-inning finale. Mobile (8-3) hosts Notre Dame College for a 4 pm double header Thursday, Mar. 3. Victoria Buie earned the win in the opener, allowing 4 runs on 7 hits in an 8-inning effort, while fanning 6 batters.

Mobile Softball Sweeps Pair In Montgomery

MONTGOMERY, Ala-- The University of Mobile softball team improved to 4-1 on the season with a sweep on the final day of the Faulkner University Tournament. Mobile opened by blanking Southern Wesleyan 5-0 and finished the day with a 3-2 victory over Shorter University. In the opener, Kamaron Strickland picked up the win with 6 innings of 3-hit, shutout relief. The sophomore fanned 8 in the game.

#25 Lady Rams Drop Game In Extra Innings

HATTIESBURG, Miss-- The University of Mobile dropped a 6-7 decision in 9 innings to Indiana University-Southeast Saturday. Mobile (1-1) will head to Montgomery for the Faulkner University Tournament this weekend and will open against Truett McConnell Friday at 4:30 pm. Haley Baker was tagged with the loss after allowing 2 earned runs on 2 hits in 3.1 innings of relief. Jenna Swain picked up the win for IUS with 3 innings of 1-hit, 1-run relief.

UMobile Softball Opens 2011 With Victory

HATTIESBURG, Miss-- The 25th-ranked University of Mobile softball team opened the 2011 season with an 8-4 victory over Southern Nazarene University. Victoria Buie went the distance to pick up the win, allowing 3 earned runs on 9 hits and fanning 10. Mayles Rodriguez and Holli McLeod each went 2-4 with 2 runs scored from the top two spots in the lineup, while Jessica Rogers went 2-4 with 2 RBI.

Southern States Showcase Set to Air October 20

Norcross, Ga. - The Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC), which grew to sixteen member institutions on July 1, will add a new dimension in 2010, as the SSAC unveils its feature-based television show debuting on Wednesday, October 20 on SportSouth at 6 p.m. The “Southern States Showcase” will feature 18 thirty-minute weekly episodes on SportSouth (Fox regional sports network) reaching more than 10 million households. The show will air three times weekly across six southeastern states (Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee) beginning the week of October 18.

Beth Pilgrim Joins UM Softball Staff

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile announced the addition of Beth Pilgrim as Assistant Softball Coach. The Cantonment, Fla., native comes to Mobile after playing four years for the University of South Alabama softball team.  At Mobile, she will largely be responsible for working with pitchers and catchers, along with other day-to-day duties. Day-to-day duties include recruiting, practice planning, planning tournaments and many other responsibilities.
