UMobile Softball Sweeps Home-Opening DH

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile softball team opened its 2012 home schedule by sweeping Talladega College by scores of 11-4 and 15-0 in a run-rule victory. Mobile (4-0) will play Benedictine Saturday at 12 at William Carey. Kamaron Strickland grabbed the win in the opener, going the distance, allowing 4 runs on 8 hits and fanning 6. Brittany Dunson went 3-for-4 with 3 runs scored from the leadoff spot, while Milagros Lozada went 3-for-4 with 3 RBI and Johnna Barnes finished 3-for-4 with 2 RBI.

Lady Rams Open Season With DH Sweep

TALLADEGA, Ala-- The 22nd-ranked University of Mobile softball team opened the 2012 season by sweeping a doubleheader from Talladega College with 9-0 and 10-0 run-rule victories in 5 innings. Mobile (2-0) will host Talladega Feb. 23 at 2 pm for a twin bill. Kamaron Strickland went the distance in the opener and twirled a perfect game will fanning four hitters. Korie Fontenot finished with a homerun as the Lady Rams tallied 9 runs.

Lady Rams Finish Pool Play With 2-1 Record

GULF SHORES, Ala. – Mobile (Ala.) (36-18) ended pool play with a 3-0 victory against St. Thomas (Fla.) Saturday at the 2011 NAIA Softball National Championship. The 31st annual event is taking place at the Gulf Shores Sportsplex. Ally Scott drove in two of the three runs with a RBI-double in the second inning and another one in the fourth. She finished 2-for-3 on the day and gave plenty of run support for starting pitcher Kamaron Strickland.

Swanson's Walk-Off Single Sends Mobile Past Azusa

GULF SHORES, Ala—The host team University of Mobile (Ala.) Lady Rams (35-18) rallied past Azusa Pacific University (33-22) 5-4 on the second day of pool play action at the 2011 NAIA Softball National Championship Friday. Mobile overcame eight runners left on base and two errors with a two-run seventh inning. A Mayles Rodriguez double and Holli McLeod single placed runners at the corners to begin the inning, and freshman second baseman Jessica Rogers ripped a RBI-single to left to tie the game at 4-4.

Oklahoma City Downs Mobile At NAIA Softball National Championship

GULF SHORES, Ala. – Oklahoma City (45-12) rode the arm of pitcher Lily LaVelle to victory with a 5-1 defeat of Mobile (Ala.) (34-18) on day one of the NAIA Softball National Championship. The event is being held at the Gulf Shores Sportsplex. LaVelle, a 5-7 junior, went the distance striking out 12 batters. She allowed four walks and one hit. In the bottom of the third inning, she ran into her only trouble. After giving up two walks to begin the inning, she balked in a run.

NAIA Softball National Championship Begins Thursday

GULF SHORES, Ala—The University of Mobile softball team will begin pool play at the 2011 NAIA Softball National Championship Thursday, May 19 at 1 pm against Oklahoma City University at the Gulf Shores Sportsplex. The 31st Annual Event is hosted by the Gulf Shores and Orange Beach Sports Commission in conjunction with the University of Mobile. Pool play will take place May 19-21, with the eight-team, double-elimination bracket taking play May 23-24 and the Championship game getting underway May 25.

Pool Play Schedule Released For 2011 NAIA Softball National Championship

KANSAS CITY, Mo—The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) released the pool play schedule for the 2011 NAIA Softball National Championship Wednesday. The tournament will take place May 19-25 at the Gulf Shores Sportsplex in Gulf Shores, Ala., and will be hosted by the Gulf Shores and Orange Beach Sports Commission in conjunction with the University of Mobile.

Field Set For 2011 NAIA Softball National Championships

KANSAS CITY, Mo—The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics released the field of 32 teams for the 2011 NAIA Softball National Championship, and the University of Mobile received the host bid to the tournament. The championship will take place May 19-25 at the Gulf Shores Sportsplex and the pool play schedule will be released Wednesday by 3 pm. The field is comprised of 27 automatic qualifiers, the host bid and four at-large selections.

No. 16 Shorter Ends Mobile's Run At SSAC Softball Tournament

COLUMBUS, Ga-- The University of Mobile softball team saw its three-day run at the 2011 SSAC Championships come to an end Saturday morning, as the team fell 4-2 to No. 16 Shorter University. Kacey Hawkshead picked up the win for the Lady Hawks by limiting Mobile to 2 runs on 7 hits in the complete-game effort. Kamaron Strickland took the loss after giving up 3 runs on 6 hits in 5.2 innings of action.
