MOBILE, Ala-- The 21st-ranked Belhaven University women's tennis team defeated the University of Mobile 7-2 in SSAC action Saturday morning at the University of Mobile. Mobile (4-2, 1-1) will play at Spring Hill March 27 at 4 pm. None of the doubles matches were close, with Stephanie Tomita and Marcela Abrantes rolling 8-2 at the top spot, and Belhaven dropping only one game while taking the final two doubles matches.

LAGRANGE, Ga-- The University of Mobile women's tennis team cruised to a 6-0 win at LaGrange College Wednesday. Mobile (4-1) hosts Loyola University Saturday, Mar. 3 at 10 am. Tomita-Abrantes, Smith-Phillips and Summersgill-Kolakoski all won their doubles matches by an 8-1 score, and the Lady Rams cruised from there.

TUSKEGEE, Ala-- The University of Mobile women's tennis team fell 4-5 to NCAA-II Tuskegee University Tuesday evening. Mobile (3-1) visits LaGrange College Wednesday, Feb. 29 at 4 pm. With the teams splitting the No. 1 and 3 doubles matches, the Golden Tigers nabbed a 9-8 (7-5) win at No. 2 singles to take the 2-1 lead heading to singles play.

MARION, Ala-- The University of Mobile women's tennis team hit the road and defeated Judson College 9-0 Wednesday afternoon. The Lady Rams (3-0) host Southern States Athletic Conference foe Emmanuel College Saturday, Feb. 18 at 9 am. Mobile had little trouble in dispatching Judson after starting off by sweeping doubles play, while allowing Judson only two games in the three matches.

NEW ORLEANS, La-- The University of Mobile women's tennis team picked up a pair of victories to open the 2012 slate of matches. The Lady Rams defeated non-conference foe LSU-Shreveport 6-2 and then disposed of SSAC foe Loyola 7-1 to cap Saturday's action. The LSUS match was split at 1-1 after doubles play, but the Lady Rams swept 2-6 singles matches. Marcela Abrantes won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 singles and Ambria Phillips shut out her opponent at No. 3.

MOBILE, Ala—The University of Mobile had three tennis players named 2011 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes, the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics announced. Jesus Urmeneta was honored on the men’s side, while Rachel Hartley and Nancy Machen were honored from the Lady Rams’ roster. In order to be nominated by an institution’s head coach, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status to qualify for this honor.

MOBILE, Ala—Southern States Athletic Conference foe William Carey University ended the University of Mobile’s season in the first round of play at the 2011 NAIA Women’s Tennis National Championship Tuesday at the Mobile Tennis Center. Mobile (7-9) was making its 7th-consecutive trip to the tournament and 18th overall, while 12th-ranked William Carey (15-6) is in its first NAIA National Championship.

MOBILE, Ala—The University of Mobile women’s tennis team will battle Southern States Athletic Conference foe and 12th-ranked William Carey University in the opening round of the 2011 NAIA Women’s Tennis National Championship May 17 at 1 pm at the Mobile Tennis Center. The Lady Rams are 7-8 on the season and received the host bid to the tournament, while William Carey boasts a 14-6 record and received one of the 9 at-large selections to the 24-team, single-elimination tournament. Mobile is making its 7th-straight trip to the elite field and 18th trip overall, while William Carey is making its first-ever appearance at nationals.

KANSAS CITY, Mo—The NAIA released the bracket for the 2011 NAIA Women’s Tennis National Championship Tuesday, and the University of Mobile will face Southern States Athletic Conference foe William Carey on the opening day. The 31st annual event will take place May 17-21 at the Mobile Tennis Center. Opening round matches will start at 1 pm for the women.
