UMobile Volleyball Sweeps Pair In Montgomery

MONTGOMERY, Ala-- The University of Mobile volleyball team swept a pair of matches on day one of the SSAC Cross-Over Tournament at Faulkner University Friday. The Lady Rams defeated Brenau 3-1 and then beat Columbia College in straight sets 25-19, 25-20, 25-21. Against Columbia, seniors Kelly Sherling and Alyson Kovacs led the way with 10 and 8 kills, respectively.

UMobile Falls To Spring Hill In Volleyball Action

MOBILE, Ala-- Spring Hill College defeated the University of Mobile 3-1 (25-16, 25-18, 16-25, 25-15) in Southern States Athletic Conference action Tuesday evening at Pharr Gym. Yiting Cao led the Lady Badgers with 16 kills and added 4 aces, 10 digs and 3 blocks from the outside. She hit .262. Sha Sha Buchanan hit .444 and put down 9 kills, while Meredith Donald finished with a team-high 18 digs. Taryn Nash added 32 assists, 5 kills and 7 digs.

UMobile Volleyball Ranked No. 24 To Start 2010 Season

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile volleyball team is ranked 24th in the Tachikara-NAIA Volleyball Coaches' Preseason Top 25 Poll as announced by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Tuesday. The Lady Rams went 26-13 last season and will open the 2010 season at home Tuesday, Sept. 7 at 7:30 pm against SSAC rival Spring Hill College. Mobile finished 2009 receiving votes and made the program's third straight trip to the NAIA National Championships.

UMobile Volleyball Named NAIA Scholar Team

KANSAS CITY, Mo-- The University of Mobile volleyball team was named a 2009-10 NAIA Scholar Team, as announced by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Tuesday. For a team to be considered for the NAIA Scholar Team award, it must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) as defined by the institution. The team grade point average must include all varsity student-athletes certified as eligible.

Christa Hicks Transfers To Mobile

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile Volleyball Program announced the addition of Christa Hicks for the 2010 season. Hicks, a 5-10 outside hitter from Livermore, California, is transferring to Mobile from Chabot College. She was named All-Conference both seasons of competition and served as team captain. Prior to her college experience, she played volleyball and ran track at Granada High School.

Mobile Adds Michelle Hendrix To JV Volleyball Team

MOBILE, Ala—Coaches Jon and Amber Campbell are happy to add Michelle Hendrix to the 2010 Junior Varsity Volleyball Roster. Hendrix hails from Thorsby, AL where she played volleyball at Thorsby High School. She was a multi-sport athlete, competing in basketball, softball, and track in addition to volleyball. The small town atmosphere of UM led her to sign with the Rams.

Ohio Native Erica Rath Inks With Mobile Volleyball

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile volleyball program announced the addition of Newark, Ohio native Erica Rath for the 2010 season. Rath, a 5-11 middle blocker, brings high school and club experience to Mobile and is looking forward to continuing Mobile's success. "I am excited to play volleyball at UM because I see the potential to be a part of a National Championship team," Rath said. The Lady Rams have made three-straight trips to the NAIA National Championships.

Katy McCollister Signs Up For UM Volleyball

MOBILE, Ala-- Coaches Jon and Amber Campbell announced the signing of libero, Katy McCollister, for the 2010 UM volleyball season. The libero prepped at Lassiter High School in Marietta, Ga., and is a native of Roswell, GA. The two-time MVP was named to the All-State Team, All-Area Team, All-County Team and Senior All-Star Team in her four-year high school career.

Lady Rams Add Jenna Williams To JV Roster

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile Volleyball Team announced the signing of Jenna Williams for the 2010 Junior Varsity roster. Williams, a 5-7 setter/right-side hitter, hails from Green Cove Springs, FL and prepped at St. Johns Country Day School. While playing volleyball under Coach Traci Livingston, Williams was named Most Improved Player in 2006, earned the Spartan Award for Excellence in 2009, and was tabbed 1st-Team All-County twice.
