Rams Recognized For Fall Success

CLEVELAND – The University of Mobile is ranked 15th in the final fall NAIA Learfield Sports Directors' Cup Standings. Mobile received 53 points for a ninth place finish in women's soccer and 83 points for a third place finish in men's soccer. Azusa Pacific (Calif.) extended its lead, earning 25 points following a ninth place finish in football, bringing their point total to 301 points.

UMobile Volleyball Players Named Scholar-Athletes

MOBILE, Ala-- The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics announced that the University of Mobile's Shea McBee and Alyson Kovacs were two of 387 volleyball players to be named 2010 Daktronics-NAIA Volleyball Scholar-Athletes Friday. Kovacs is a senior right-side from Sanford, Fla., and McBee is a senior middle blocker from Birmingham, Ala.

2010 SSAC Volleyball All-Conference Teams Released

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile volleyball team had several student-athletes honored by the SSAC, as the conference released the 2010 SSAC Volleyball All-Conference Teams. Kelly Sherling was named to the All-Conference team after leading the Lady Rams with 361 kills, good for 3.5 kills per set. The senior hit .209 and added 167 digs and 40 blocks. Joining Sherling as a SSAC West All-Division selection were Alyson Kovacs, Shea McBee and Katy McCollister.

Season Ends In SSAC Quarterfinals For Lady Rams

GULFPORT, Miss-- The University of Mobile volleyball team fell 0-3 (20-25, 28-30, 18-25) to Shorter University in the SSAC Tournament Quarterfinals Friday evening at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. Kelly Sherling led Mobile with 10 kills and hit .318, while Alyson Kovacs added 7 kills and 3 blocks and Shea McBee finished with 6 kills and 4 blocks. Katy McCollister led with 13 digs, Melody Tenney finished with 17 assists and 4 aces, and Kaylee McGrew added 15 assists for Mobile.

No. 23 West Florida Tops Mobile 3-0

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile volleyball team fell 0-3 (25-27, 14-25, 20-25) to 23rd-ranked NCAA-II University of West Florida to close out the regular season Monday. Mobile (15-15) will head into the SSAC Tournament Nov. 12-13 at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in Gulfport, Miss., as the #3 seed from the West Division and face 2nd-seed Shorter University Friday at 5:45 pm in the opening round.

UMobile Volleyball Falls At Spring Hill

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile volleyball team went into Thursday's match at rival Spring Hill with a chance to force a three-way tie at the top of the SSAC West, instead Mobile fell 0-3 (8-24, 13-25, 12-25) and now sits in the 3rd spot in the division. Mobile (15-14, 5-3) will host NCAA-II University of West Florida Monday, Nov. 8 at 7:30 pm for Senior Night. The SSAC Tournament will take place Nov. 12-13 in Gulfport, Miss.

Mobile Women Fall At SSAC Foe Loyola

NEW ORLEANS, La-- The University of Mobile volleyball team fell 0-3 (23-25, 23-25, 18-25) at SSAC West Division foe Loyola University Tuesday evening. Mobile (15-13, 5-2) will visit rival Spring Hill Thursday at 7 pm with a chance to force a 3-way tie at the top of the division. Kelly Sherling led Mobile with 11 kills, while Alyson Kovacs added 6. Mobile hit only .089 as a team, while the Wolfpack hit .214.

Lady Rams Sweep Xavier In Non-Conference Play

NEW ORLEANS, La-- The University of Mobile volleyball team swept Xavier University 3-0 (25-17, 25-14, 25-20) in non-conference action Thursday evening. Mobile (15-12, 5-1) visits Loyola University in SSAC West Division action Tuesday, Nov. 2 at 7 pm. Mobile and Spring Hill are tied at the top of the SSAC West Division standings with 5-1 marks. The Lady Rams will visit Spring Hill Thursday, Nov. 4 at 7 pm.

Lady Rams Earn 3-0 Non-Conference Win

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile volleyball team shook off some early rust and went on to sweep non-conference foe Southern University at New Orleans 3-0 (25-21, 25-4, 25-14) at Pharr Gym Tuesday evening. Mobile (14-12, 5-1) visits Xavier University in New Orleans, La., Thursday, Oct. 28 at 6 pm for another non-conference battle. Shea McBee led Mobile with 10 kills and hit .769, while Disah Kolassiba added 8 kills and hit .357.
