Rams' Season Comes To An End At SSAC Tournament

COLUMBUS, Ga-- The University of Mobile baseball team saw its season come to an end Friday, falling 4-9 to 16th-ranked Auburn University-Montgomery on day two of the SSAC Tournament. Mobile ends the season with a 25-25 overall record. The Warhawks jumped on Mobile with seven runs over the first three innings and never looked back. After the Rams went down in order in the top of the 1st, Adam Russell hit a two-out, three-run double in the bottom half of the inning.

No. 5 Flames Take Down Rams At SSAC Tourney

COLUMBUS, Ga-- The 5th-ranked Lee University Flames topped the University of Mobile 11-6 Thursday in the opening round of the 2012 SSAC Baseball Tournament. Mobile (25-24) will play an elimination game Friday at 1 pm EST against the loser of the William Carey v. AUM game. Lee jumped to a 7-0 lead in the first three innings, and it was too much for the Rams to overcome. Mobile tried to rally with six runs over the final four innings, but fell short. Patrick Merkling picked up the win for Faulkner after limiting the Rams to one earned run on six hits in 6 innings of work.

UMobile Baseball Players Honored By SSAC

MOBILE, Ala-- Several University of Mobile baseball players were honored by the Southern States Athletic Conference Thursday. Braxton Hamil was tabbed the SSAC Freshman of the Year, and named to the All-Freshmen Team. Hamil, a freshman from Mobile, Ala., started 46 games for the Rams, hitting .306 with a .414 on base percentage. He leads the team with 19 doubles and 36 RBI. Hamil was also named to the Gold Glove Team, where he was joined by teammates Justin Beck and Brady King.

Baseball Begins SSAC Title Quest Thursday

COLUMBUS, Ga-- The 2012 SSAC Baseball Tournament will kickoff Thursday, and the University of Mobile will play at 4 pm against Lee University in game three. The Rams (25-23, 15-15) are the 7th seed, while the Flames (46-8-1, 26-4) are the 2nd seed and ranked 3rd in the NAIA Top-25. Lee finished a game behind 5th-ranked Faulkner for the top seed. The tournament is double-elimination, with the championship taking place Monday at 7 pm or Tuesday at 2 pm if necessary.

Rams Run-Rule SWU; Clinch #7 Seed In Tourney

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile baseball team run-ruled Southern Wesleyan 20-5 in seven innings Saturday to clinch the 7th seed at the 2012 SSAC Tournament. The tournament will be held April 26 - May 1 in Columbus, Ga. The Rams are 25-23 overall and 15-15 in SSAC play. Mobile scored in each of the first five innings, including four runs or more in four of those frames. Ten different Rams recorded a hit, eight Rams drove in at least one run and ten different players scored a run.

Rams Split Twin Bill With Southern Wesleyan

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile baseball team split Friday's SSAC twin bill with Southern Wesleyan, taking the opener 7-4 in seven innings and dropping the finale 6-2. Mobile (24-23, 14-15) and Southern Wesleyan (21-32, 8-21) conclude the series with a 1 pm game Saturday. In the opener, the Rams bounced back from a 4-0 deficit to pick up the win. The Warriors went ahead 4-0 with three runs in the the top of the 3rd on four hits. All the runs scored with two outs, starting with Tyler Lollis' 2-run double.

Rams Top Visiting Badgers In Baseball Action

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile baseball team defeated rival Spring Hill College 5-2 in a non-conference game Tuesday. The game was called with two outs in the bottom of the 8th due to rain. The Rams (23-22, 13-14) will close out the regular season by hosting conference foe Southern Wesleyan for a three-game series this weekend. The teams will play one Friday at 2 pm and play a doubleheader Saturday at 1. The Rams are currently a half game ahead of William Carey for the 8th and final playoff spot in the SSAC.

Rams Ready For Big Games Versus Badgers

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile softball and baseball teams will kick off the week with contests against the cross town rival Spring Hill College Badgers. The 23rd-ranked softball team will visit the Badgers Monday, April 16 at 2 pm for a Southern States Athletic Conference doubleheader. Baseball will host a non-conference game against Spring Hill Tuesday, April 17 at 3 pm. The Lady Rams are 26-10 overall and 8-7 in SSAC action, while Spring Hill is 17-21 and 7-9.

Baseball Sweeps Truett McConnell

CLEVELAND, Ga-- The University of Mobile baseball team won a pair of pitchers' duels at Truett McConnell Saturday, winning the 7-inning opener 1-0 and taking the finale 2-0. Mobile (22-22, 13-14) will host Spring Hill Tuesday, April 17 at 3 pm for a single game. Lefty Ryan Hines worked 6 innings of one-hit, shutout ball to win the opener. He struck out five and walked five. Josh Blaylock worked a perfect 7th for the save. The lone run of the game came without a hit in the top of the 6th. Ryan Parazine reached on an error, swiped 2nd and then moved to 3rd on a passed ball with one out.
